Thanks MT! This is a necessary, but melancholy part of football now. - Drathdon - 02-23-2013 05:59 AM

We really should stop and thank Michael Turner for all he has done for this team and organization. It was his legs that carried us out of the Vick Fiasco, and his heart that pounded the rock so many times, often injured, to create the success we have pride in today. All the great years to come will all have his fingerprints on them for how he let our young team develop while he took the heat.

I know we all saw this coming, and some even cheered for this move, which is a reality of the new NFL's cap structure, but even those happy that Turner is now going to be let go should stop and remember the giant of a man we are letting go who gave us his best years on the field, only to fall short in the end.

Thanks, Michael! It's really appreciated! You'll forever be one of my favorite Falcons of all time!

All fans should feel melancholy right now over this move, no matter how necessary it is for us.

Maybe he will re-sign for a lot less, but as for now, lets send him off with the class he deserves. Confirmations of his release have been posted many places today, and it is time to say goodbye to the King of Touchdowns in the red and black! One more year would have had him the all-time rusher in Falcons' History, but being 2nd on that list, and far and away the TD leader, means he deserves a better sendoff than he has been getting. His Ring of Honor space should be already cleared.

Let's Rise Up for Turner! Forever a Falcon!

Agreed. He was a vital part in getting us back to being competitive. He just eventually wore down, like all backs do. Some of his best moments:

Turner isn't even gone and you guys are trying to push him out of the door with nothing more than a handshake and warm words, talk about disrespect.

Let's pour Turner a congratulatory drink before he drives off into the sunset!

Well since he had a hard time hitting the hole every Sunday, I fear it will be tough for him to find the door on Monday.

Aftermath, all-kind of reports were saying it when I posted it, and I wanted to jump in and remark how melancholy it should be before people started cheering.

I would never push him out, and hope he could renegotiate to stay some how. It's obvious, though, that no matter how much I love him and what he has done for us, his contract is not in our best interests as it stands, and will not be sticking around. I hope that the released reports were TD's way of getting Turner to acknowledge the situation, and offer a deal.
