He is the CEO of a multi billion dollar corporation. He's not doing it for free.

Would you want to be the guy in charge of a company, regardless of that company's revenue, for less than 0.03% of the total revenue of the company? You have the stress of having thousands of employees and their families all affected by each decision you make for that company. It is way more than the athletes here, you have admins, camera crews, IT, etc. You and your family have to deal with major public scrutiny for every decision you make. You also have to be really talented and experienced in your own right to get the position in the first place (in most cases). Not to mention the amount of hours somebody has to put into their career to get where they are at. I bet if you worked 3000 hours a year for 20 years to become the head of the company you worked for, you would probably want at least 1-3% of the revenues that you helped earn the company as its leader. But then that means you would earn over $100 million a year as the commissioner and people would complain about you.

I understand what you're saying but to me it's insane to make that much money in a year. I don't care if you're curing cancer. I can't even imagine what it would be like to even have the interest off that kind of money.

So to make that much money and set your family up for generations is something you frown at?

If both parties freely agree to the terms of his employment and compensation, it is between them. It's not like he held his employer hostage to give him that much money.

If the owners didn't think he was worth it, they would not pay it, or hire somebody else. It is not like he has a high popularity ranking. Personally, I don't like the approach he is taking to make the game safer. The fact is, I wouldn't doubt it if the commissioner spent less than 5% of his time dealing with stuff the actual game of football. Most of it is probably dealing with TV contracts, merchandising, determining and planning the Super Bowls, dealing with lawsuits, dealing with the union, dealing with the occasional member of Congress, working the NFL network TV presidents, working with marketing guys on how to expand the brand, working with logistics guys on how to have more events in Europe, and so forth.

I don't like the fact that I sound like I am defending Goodell, when in fact I wish the NFL would replace him with someone who approach and handle the safety issue better without the crazy personal flags being thrown on every hard hit. But I am not in charge.

As I said earlier in this thread I'm jealous that he has that kind of money. That anyone has that kind of money. It just absolutely blows my mind. I've been homeless twice in my life. So I know what it's like to suffer.

Your past life should make you stronger, not more jealous. Just because you've had a hard life doesn't make it ok to blame others for how well theirs appear to be going.

Money isn't the fix to life. Being respectful and humble will get you further than money ever could.

I am humble. That's why it absolutely inrages me when these people that are making millions upon millions a year cry about not having enough money. I had to learn a long time ago at a very young age how to be happy without money.

Again I'm not blaming anyone. It just absolutely blew my mind.
