I know Payton recently did an interview on the ESPN radio station here in Chicago, though I haven't heard it. Might have been from there.

I am not sure what you heard, but why you keep insisting that Rob Ryan had interviewed with the Saints prior to today is insane. As I said, I was told directly by the primary beat writer for the Saints that today's interview with Ryan was the first. That, sir, is a fact and you simply cannot admit that your are wrong. And, yes, you are wrong. Larry Holder's full-time job is knowing every detail about Sean Payton and the Saints.

He may have, but he would not have said that Ryan was having a second interview as Beef insists when it is a fact he hadn't.

It was Thursday on 790 between 12:00 and 12:45. The show was Wes Durham and Tony Barnhart who were mainly talking about national signing day but I believe the clip was played the during the "sports news/update" section.
Now, I don't know if he interviewed once, twice or 500 times and I really don't care, it means literally nothing to me, but Beef and I heard exactly the same thing. It was Sean Payton and maybe he just misspoke but he definitely said "again".

And funny how La Canfora was saying this was already a done deal a week or so before Ryan was "supposedly" even interviewed. I really can't stand that dude, but he's usually not that far off with his information. He's not psychic. He heard something from what now appears to have been a very credible source.
It's going to be funny when we find out that Payton didn't actually misspeak and he just slipped up admitting that Ryan was coming for a second interview. I mean you're going to push away potential candidates if they know some other guy already has a second interview scheduled before you have your first. So I can understand why they might have tried to keep that under wraps if it were the case.

So, why did they work so hard to say Ryan wasn't their man? Did they mess up and not follow the Roonie Rule or something, and had to backtrack before making the announcement? I don't understand why everyone knew this was a done deal, but no one would even admit they had talked. Might this be why Ryan pulled out of the Rams offer?
