That defense was held together by smoke n mirrors at the end of the season (and maybe some deer antler spray LMAO). I've read they may have to cut Boldin for cap space, rayray is done, possibly ed as well. Kruger and a few others could be gone as well.

I'll go ahead with my 'bold prediction' for next year, and say I doubt BAL even makes the playoffs next year.

Yeah, with all the talk of "closing windows," Baltimore's certainly just closed. Then again, Ozzie Newsome is a helluva GM, he'll reload that team.

I don't know about that. Flacco wants a monster deal, and the Ravens might have to use the franchise tag on him. That would eat about $14.6 million of their cap space. It would only go up from there if they end up using the exclusive rights tag, which would be equal to the average of the Top 5 QBs in the NFL (approx. $20.464 million).

The Ravens are set to have $10.6 million in cap space, meaning they would most likely have to restructure some people or make some cuts just to keep Flacco.

I don't feel ill will towards Flacco and the Ravens. Congrats to them. I just wish it was us. Every thing seemed to line up for us. It was great to see the Niners go down in the exact way that we did. Then to see their coach whine and cry about it. Mike Smith took it as it was, a part of the game. I am pretty sure had we been there we would have won. We matched up well with the Ravens but our offense would have presented lots of match up problems. We also could have contained their traditional offense.

I have this feeling that we will get an early primetime rematch with the Niners. I would not be surprised if we get one of the first kickoff games week 1.

We have a lot of potential prime time games on tap this season. Games I could see being in prime time include:

New England
Green Bay
San Francisco
New Orleans
Seattle
Maybe Carolina.

Of course, rarely do we actually get prime time games that I feel should be in prime time...

Flacco took over this postseason, for the most part. One thing you won't see from Flacco is the comeback wins that Ryan continually gives this team. No matter how you look at it, the next few years of their careers will be fun to compare and contrast.

Don't know about that. Flacco has better skill set than Ryan, bigger arm more mobile inside pocket. Better pocket awareness and moving side to side and up in pocket to make throws. This could easily be Flacco stepping stone and now he might start turning out better numbers in regular season and offense is ran more through him. He showed in post season he is capable of carrying offense with no ground game. Pierce and Rice are good rbs but now that offense is centered more around Flacco. Would not surprise me to see Flacco throw for 30 tds and 4k yards. He has talent and confidence now. Plus Ravens defense will take a hit with no Reed and Ray

Again I don't mean to make this a "fanboy Protect Ryan" thread. I really just want to see where everyone stands. To the poster saying these two have no connection other than the '08 draft, that may be true, but for me I like having the Ryan/Flacco debate. Kinda lets me have perspective on seeing where Matty has continued to improve and progress, as well with Flacco.

For me I'm in agreement though Ryan continues to show his greatness and I can say confidently that the Falcons haven't reached any ceiling. The sky is the limit for Ryan and gang. Like many have pointed and said, if Ryan had the defense the Ravens have been providing Flacco I don't think there's a doubt in my mind Ryan has at least 2 rings. The way he carries is team and himself is still amazing to watch every season.

Anyways thanks for those that posted. Just something on my mind after that Sb yesterday.

Well right now Flacco has a ring and Ryan doesn't. You can say what you want about team's and talent but one has won the ultimate goal while having one of the best postseasons ever and the other is still working on it.

And Trent Dilfer still has one while Dan Marino never will. Doesn't mean much though.

Joe Flacco is going to Disney World.

Also auto correct always turns his name into Flaccid.

I feel Ryan will have the better career once it's said and done. Flacco is inconsistent. He goes through hot and cold periods. Luckily for the Ravens, he got hot during the playoffs going 11 TD's and 0 INT's and got them a SB win. I also think Ryan is more of a team-first guy and has more talent. Flacco has a great o-line and a young and talented RB to help him along the way. Ryan has been pressured ever since Dahl left and hasn't been getting a consistent running game out of Turner. Also, Flacco has John Harbaugh for a coach while we have ultra-conservative Smitty ball (Get a lead and then protect it). I have no doubt in my mind that Ryan will bring Atlanta at least 1 SB win before he retires. To answer the question directly, Ryan > Flacco.
