Hard Knocks? - Drathdon - 02-02-2013 08:00 PM So, do we try to do it? We would get it if we wanted it, easily. It would be good to market this team to the unwashed masses and get people onto the bandwagon for us. I honestly, at this point, see it as nothing but helpful for our franchise, and would love to do it. We have a playoff win, so it would not be as bad a stigma as after the Giants playoff loss (which is why I think we turned down last year). The team will be making several changes, so the storylines would be good (and the trip to get TD back would be a great episode!). I say go for it? What does everyone else think? RE: Hard Knocks? - Aftermath - 02-02-2013 08:50 PM I wouldn't, but that's just me. Re: Hard Knocks? - juraitwaluzka - 02-02-2013 09:11 PM I think the reason that we elected not to do it was because after they analyzed it they realized at best it had no potential to make the team better but there was certainly the possibility of it being bad for the team, ie completely a football decision. RE: Hard Knocks? - ATLBound - 02-03-2013 12:18 AM I think its a great way to get fans and get people behind the team. For some people, if they feel that they know the players personally then they are more invested and more likely to root for them. This could cause better fandom at home and away games. It could def be a football decision if they thought of it this way RE: Hard Knocks? - cnasty - 02-03-2013 12:59 AM I'm on the fence about it. It's a double edged sword. Yes, it can give great exposure to your team. But that's also the problem, extra exposure to your team. We have some pretty good guys that would be entertaining to watch (Spoon & DeCoud come to mind). Then we have guys like Roddy who are complete wild cards and can look like complete idiots at the drop of a hat. If it were me, I'd probably say no. I just can't see the positives outweighing the negatives on this one. Does another team gain a competitive advantage from watching these things? Probably not. But can you say that with 100% certainty? I think that'd be where a coach like Mike Smith would pull the plug on it. RE: Hard Knocks? - Drathdon - 02-03-2013 03:40 PM We were close last year, and Mr. Blank did say he saw it as being important to grow our team exposure, and saw this as a way to do it. I think we are in a position where the added exposure is what we need, especially to get the respect we deserve, and keep the media off our back so much (which has to negatively impact the team). Don't let the media keep writing a negative spin on us, and give them a more positive storyline. Let them see how hard we work, and who we are, and the "they only win in the regular season, and aren't contenders" talk will be harder to push. IDK, maybe its just me, I don't really give two shits about the "lack of respect" by the media, and I don't think that the guys are sweating it much either. RE: Hard Knocks? - mdrake34 - 02-04-2013 11:44 AM If HBO is smart they pursue the falcons again for this. Lots of interesting story lines and characters on our team. RE: Hard Knocks? - komic - 02-04-2013 12:20 PM No, Its too much of a distraction. If people want to get to know the players they can watch D Block. The Jets and Dolphins are the kinds of teams that does hard knocks and you see where they are right now RE: Hard Knocks? - mdrake34 - 02-04-2013 12:33 PM (02-04-2013 12:20 PM)komic Wrote: No, Its too much of a distraction. The jets blew up because their front office and coaches are idiots. Hard Knocks had nothing to do with either team's fortunes or failures. |
