your POV and mine are obviously different. 'over there' to me pretty much means ALL of 'over there'. so no, no apology is warranted nor given. I rarely even go to anything over there other than TATF.

I'm not aware that the different sections of the forums 'over there' were really not considered all to be the same message board. you said you'd stop posting there, yet you still do. makes it pretty clear to me you're not a man of your word.

of course, that's just my POV

Flagg, sorry for allowing the thread to be hijacked, keep it on topic swift.

I still don't know why everyone is still always talking about cutting Dunta like it has already happened. He played good this year and already renegotiated his contract before the season.

I really really doubt we cut Dunta especially with the fact our secondary was our only major strength on defense this year.

he isn't worth the 8M or so he is going to get paid, that's it really.

Doesn't mean he is cut unless you can replace him, and for less than his dead money would be + the other player.

I'm just not seeing an Edwards situation here in anyway shape or form.

it really depends on if they think McClain can hold down the RCB slot while Owens takes the nickle (though I think in game situations their two roles would be reversed because Owens is better outside). Either way I don't think Grimes will be back and as you said if we cut Dunta we have to have a guy that can replace him and since I don't see us bringing in a FA CB or drafting one in the 1st or 2nd round he would already have to be on the roster.

We were already prepared to pay Grimes $10M, Dunta $6.5M, and Asante whatever he was making, I can't remember. Not sure why everyone thinks that has to be different next season.

We're not going into next season with Owens, McClain, and Asante, and Thompson and Franks as our only depth, though. That I can guarantee you. We're not letting Grimes and Dunta both go. That's retarded.

you think we keep Grimes, Asante and Robinson?

I think it's more likely that one of Grimes or Robinson goes, but certainly not both going. And I do believe there's a slight possibility we keep both. I think that's less likely, but possible.

Grimes has zero negotiating leverage. He's not going to come close to $10M again. We'll probably offer him half that and I would bet that it's pretty competitive with the rest of his league offers.

Dunta just re-did his contract in July and he took a bit less money per year by spreading it out a bit more. It would be pretty damn shitty for this FO to then release him after he accomodated us for the sake of freeing up money to sign FA's. Especially in a year he didn't play badly.

Dunta is cut we save 4.6 million roughly
Grimes is offered a mid tier contract with incentives . If he doesn't accept
We draft a corner in first round .

No chance Dunta is back at 10.4 million against the cap

RE: A Look at the Cap Situation in 2013 and Beyond - Drathdon - 01-28-2013 06:40 PM

I agree that Dunta will be back. I think the tenure of this front office has proven continuity and keeping the elements of this team together a priority, and I don't see TD abandoning his hand-picked option who did not play badly over cap money, which he controls.

I, too, think seeing all 3 back on the roster at CB would be very probable. Grimes got paid $10 million to sit the bench all year... if he wasn't willing to give us the home-team discount when he would likely not have a career if not for the Falcons, then his wife really has taken control of him.
