Yep. Sounds like the reason he was traded is because he was going to be gone after this season anyways. And to top it off, he was about to go to arbitration over this years contract. Prado's awesome but it is hard to pay somebody 12 million a year that hits 8-12 home runs a year and is only a .300 hitter.

Great trade. I was initially shocked and upset to giving up Prado. But after realizing this was most likely going to be Prado's last year in Atlanta I'm not that disappointed about losing him. This is a great trade for he Braves. Justin Upton has 3 years left on his contract. So we traded 1 year of Prado for at least 3 years of Upton. Nice trade. Also Teheran will be the 5th starter until Brandon Beachy gets back in July or August.

My projected lineup.

1. Andrelton Simmons - SS
2. Jason Heyward - RF
3. Justin Upton - LF
4. Freddie Freeman - 1B
5. B.J. Upton - CF
6. Brian McCann - C
7. Dan Uggla - 2B
8. Juan Francisco/Chris Johnson - 3B

Juan Francisco played great in winter ball and has reportedly gotten himself in much better shape. He did well when he started in place of Chipper last year. He struggles against left-handed pitching. That's where Chris Johnson comes in. I'm meh about Johnson.

This also may be Brian McCann's last year with the Braves which means keeping Christian Bethancourt and Evan Gattis was that more important in this trade.

Buster Olney said he talked to some guys who said the Braves were the best team in the NL and that was before the Justin Upton trade. The divisional race this season between the Braves and Nationals should be epic. It was pretty good last year with the Nats winning 98 games and the Braves winning 94 and the Nats not clinching until the final week of the season.

The sun and the moon and the stars in the night time sky. Nah but really only something in the neighbor of $17M a year.

Reports are that Prado and the Diamondbacks are already in deep discussions about a new contract.

I don't know about 90's dominance, but they are definitely set up for a run over the next few years.

No team will ever again assemble a rotation that is as good as the Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz trio that powered us through the 90s.

(Disclaimer) I had a hard on for Steve Avery

Yeah but the Braves can go on a run where they make the World Series a few times and hopefully win one again.

Steve Avery was awesome. It's a damn shame he started having arm problems. I know a lot of people said Bobby used him too much too soon but I just don't believe that. Arm problems happen. You can't protect against them.
