Nolan should move us to the 3-4(base). If he does so, guys like Massaquoi and Matthews will become much more productive. I doubt Sidbury has any future with us. I think we'll keep Abraham, We cant afford to lose him, TG, McClure and Turner are easy to replace with, but we havent have luck with drafting and signing DEs. Who else we would have if we cut Abe? Beerman, Mathews, Sidburry, and Massaquoi??? thats a joke of DEs right there. I think we need to move to the 3-4. Massa, Sidbury and Bierman can serve as our provisional OLB starters, with the expectation that we will draft additonal OLB's to cover our needs. Our 3-4 DE's would be: Babs, Peters, and Matthews I know that my suggestion is unexpected, but look at the money we will be spending on Abraham and set realistic expectations for his performance. I think that you will see that it is time to move on. RE: 2013 Draft Targets - Swift Is a Die Hard - 01-22-2013 07:59 PM I really believe we should go corner 1st or 2nd round..for the future replacement of Asante or Dunta ..I like Amerson a lot RE: 2013 Draft Targets - Swift Is a Die Hard - 01-22-2013 08:01 PM His value probably dropped to late 2nd cause of Tenn game RE: 2013 Draft Targets - takeitdown - 01-23-2013 07:11 PM (01-22-2013 04:00 PM)evo Wrote: I rather us trading our 1st round to get a 2nd, 3rd and next year draft This is very close to what I'd do. We need premium help on the lines, but we really need 3rd round caliber guys at WR, RB, TE, LB. So, we either have to get those 3rd round caliber guys by getting extra picks (trade back) or by picking up mid tier FAs (decent talent). My goal would be OG in FA. DE/DT with first 2 picks, and then ease the pain of the TG loss by getting a versatile RB, legit 3rd receiver, and quality TE. If we let our offense regress to mediocre, we're a 7-9 team. Everyone keeps clamoring for a free agent Guard, but quite honestly there aren't any out there that grab my eye. From NFL Trade Rumors: Guards: Rich Ohrnberger – ARI Garrett Reynolds – ATL Chad Rinehart – BUF – (RFA) Andy Levitre – BUF Mike Pollak – CAR Lance Louis – CHI Chilo Rachal – CHI Derrick Dockery – DAL Evan Dietrich-Smith – GB Antoine Caldwell – HOU Seth Olsen – IND – (RFA) Joe Reitz – IND – (RFA) Tony Hills – IND Steve Vallos – JAC Bryan Mattison – KC – (RFA) Russ Hochstein – KC Nate Garner – MIA Jamey Richard – NE Donald Thomas – NE Brian Waters – NE Kevin Boothe – NYG Brandon Moore – NYJ Matt Slauson – NYJ Alex Parsons – OAK – (Ex) Cooper Carlisle – OAK Jake Scott – PHI Ramon Foster – PIT Doug Legursky – PIT Tyronne Green – SD Rex Hadnot – SD Louis Vasquez – SD Leonard Davis – SF Chris Williams – STL Kevin Matthews – TEN – (RFA) Kyle DeVan – TEN Leroy Harris – TEN Deuce Lutui – TEN Kory Lichtensteiger – WAS Vince Manuwai – FA Rob Turner – FA The only notable players on that list are Brian Waters (who turns 36 next month) and Andy Levitre, who has played LG his entire career. From NFL Trade Rumors: Yeah. That's really a problem. I REALLY wanted OG last year (with the money gained from cutting Turner and not signing Manuwai) as it was a pretty good year for FA OGs. I more was speaking of general preferences this year, as I haven't looked at the class. We've just drafted a lot of 3rd and 4th round OGs, and they haven't panned out (even though that's where you find them) so I'm all for a proven vet at the biggest weak spot on the team. Trading a late rounder for an older OG is not a bad idea either. We just need a proven guy, but need to be able to bring in 3 or 4 offensive guys and 2 or 3 premium defensive guys, so it's hard to see how to do that without getting an OG prior to the draft. Barrett Jones was the starting RG as a Freshman for Alabama's 2009 National Championship team. He was the starting LT as a Junior for Alabama's 2011 National Championship team. He was the starting C as a Senior for Alabama's 2012 National Championship team. He also started at RG in 2010. So that is the position he has the most experience at on the college level. So we could draft him and move Konz to center still with Jones at RG. |
