It was a team fail....but i think it has to do with conditioning.....our D and O comes out firing....I always thought they played flat in the second half with the exception of our 2 minute offense that seems to do miracles....they fired conditioning coach today....i kind of wonder if they just run out of gas....by the way BOTH sides ran out of gas....the defense only gave up 14 points...but the offense scored.....drumroll ZERO....
you can blame it on defense but i think giving up 14 points in the second half isn't a crime or unforgivable....can we get better sure....add a DE/Tweener or a LB/DB tweener who is fast and can tackle and we could go places.....(also teach defense to ALWAYS wrap them up....first guy should ALWAYS wrap or stand them up, the second guy is the one who should put a lick or strip the ball!
Pat Y is an idiot....he isn't completely wise either....but our offense sputtered....all they needed to do was get in FG range twice and let Bryant kick a FG......I don't think 6 measly points is much to ask from this offense EVEN with turnovers!
I blame the fact that both side ran out of gas or motivation (and I just don't think our guys are mentally weak.....) They need to start running for the WHOLE raise instead of sprinting and dying at the halfway point!

It got so obvious what San Fran was going to do I started calling the plays before they even lined up (including once in chat) and still we couldn't stop it.
i agree about SF offense....it was obvious....I was upset because I figured they could stop Vernon Davis after Miller burned them......also Davis had little chemistry with kaep leading up to this game.....but we chose to weigh this over the possibility they could get that chemistry going and it backfired badly.....
But I have to say as hard a time as we were having stopping them....or offense giving up the ball twice on the downward side...hurt...but the offense not continuing to attack really hurt......how many catches did JJ have in the second? we should have fed him like flipper anderson because they had NO ANSWER in the first...

I've been saying this for years but I'll keep repeating myself: we need to switch to a 3-4 aggressive blitz scheme. We need that scheme more than the personnel we have now.

No way we can run a 3-4 right now with our D-line, we will get killed. We can run it though if we get one or two monster, 325 LBS + d-linemen.
I like many of you are kind of sick of how thin we are on both lines. The last time we had a huge fat guy in the middle it worked really well with Grady Jackson.
Once that is done we could run it well, Biermann would be an awesome LB in the 3-4

I'll just go back to the thread I posted a couple weeks ago about making a true nose tackle as our number 1 off-season priority.

Yep I'd say get 2 big fat monsters on the dline, maybe a decent price FA and draft one.
Hopefully the years of finesse dline and oline are over. Seems to be some strange carry over from the Aleix Gibbs years There is no reason we cannot properly mix speed, finesse, and big fat monsters on our team.

Yards per play and points per possession are a better indicator of success. Yards per game is an overrated stat.

I still think points per game is the most important stat and should be used to determine defensive rank.
