Good Season Guys - RFlagg - 01-20-2013 07:26 PM

I feel terrible for Tony, man. He played his heart out and the Defense just couldn't hold in the end.

Matt and Julio played the games of their lives today. I know Matt threw an INT, but Roddy was seen afterward saying he slipped. Matt's fumble was on him (which he also admitted) for looking downfield before catching the ball.

I thought we were set on D, but I think it's clear we need a lot of work. I'm assuming Abraham comes back next season, but I don't want to assume that. In my mind, we need to get a pass rushing DE, 2 LBs (sorry Nicholas) and, quite honestly, a replacement for DeCoud that can tackle. I would expect us to have a defensive heavy draft this off season (BTW, no matter what happens in the second game, we're picking #30).

As for a replacement for Tony next year, I actually would not be surprised if we give Koffman a go at the position.

It was a good season. But I doubt it will ever be the is good again. This is by far the best Falcons team I have ever seen and that's why it hurts so much. I have never cried after a Falcons lost but I did shed a few tears this time and had to hold back many others.

Why can't the city of Atlanta ever get a sports championship?

Man just knowing we failed Tony in getting him a Bowl Ring makes me just so sad. I hope that at least we got him a Win and in the NFCCG at least gave him some positive memories of the Falcons.

I'm pissed we scored absolutely nothing in the 2nd half. UGH!!

Good year none the less, but definitely showed we have changes that need to be worked on.

Defensive side, I don't think Decoud is a problem. I agree though that we are still in need of DE's that can be impactful (Outside of Abe, but even then he's aging and the wear and tear is showing).

Oh well, time to let time heal the sadness and hope 2014 brings better luck to our Organization.

-A Falcon through the good and bad.

I think the opposite, next year will be a better team. We'll add pieces to the defense and next year will be the second year here for both coordinators. I know it sucks right now but Rome wasn't built in a day.

Ok so who do we lose now? Gonzo, I'm gonna say he retires now because he won't want to risk 'today' again. McClure? Turner? Abe? we have several other guys that could be gone as well.

My thoughts are we REALLY need to address the D line. We have some good guys, but they just can't seem to make a 'team' that draws fear from the opposition. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see our draft go mostly defense, with Nolan getting a huge say in the picks he wants

The Falcons are already right up against the cap. We lose Gonzalez on offense, so immediately I don't think the offense will be as good. And no way do I see the defense getting much better if any.

I guess I just have more faith. I think this regime had earned that. They aren't going to just sit back and change nothing, and there is more than one way to win. But honestly, with this group of players and the front office if I couldn't be at least somewhat optimistic there really would be no point in me watching.

Well excuse me for thinking that with our current cap situation and as bad as our defense is we'll be able to make all the necessary changes in just 1 off-season to dramatically improve the team from where it is now. I think we take a step back next season and then maybe in 2 years re-merge as a Super Bowl contender.

I agree, we got like 4 guys that could retire and one for reasons, hes just not that fast anymore, as in turner. I wish Tony would give us one more season. But we have to change the defense and if Abe goes, I hate to see him go, but its easier to go to the 3-4 then to find a couple of good defensive ends. Their so damn hard to find. Sad I remember in 98 we had a fantastic D-line, but today its so hard to find those kind of players. We had a great season, I just thought we were going to get there again. Sad

That one hurt. Today was the two year anniversary of my father's death, and he was the one who turned me into a falcon's fan. Had to deal with my train wreck of a mother this morning and just wanted a falcon's win today.
