NFC Title Game: Falcons are 3 point dogs - RFlagg - 01-13-2013 09:41 PM

Most betting sites are currently listing the Falcons as 3 or 3.5 point underdogs to the 49ers next week, even though the game is in Atlanta. By comparison, the Patroits are 7.5 point favorites over the Ravens.

So the Falcons would be 6.5 point underdogs to them if it were in San Fran. Despite having a better record and just beating a team that destroyed them a few weeks ago. Kaepernick played a good game this past week but it looked as if the Packers didn't even prepare for the QB keeping the ball. The Falcons have already played Cam twice, RGIII, and Russell Wilson. All three are probably better than Kaepernick. They do have a really good offensive line and we don't know Abrahams status, so that's not good, although we match up well on the outside. We were gashed by the TE and theirs is even better. The 49ers probably have a slightly better defense than the Seahawks, but Ryan didn't even play that and still scored 30. I could see a similar type game next week, but if anything the line should be about even.

The way I always understood it was that home field was worth 3 over a neutral field, so we would be 6.5 point dogs on a neutral field and 9.5 point dogs in San Fran.

That's bullshit, we should have 2-3 points just being at home, but of course, Vegas thinks their brilliant, wonder how many fuckers went broke betting on the Seahawks. I would like to see how many underdog were we when we played the Vikings in 98, I bet it was 7-14. Wink I heard about this guy on 790, he said at the beginning of the season Atlanta was like 50-1 to make the playoffs in 98, that's when peter king said we would go 7-9 he played 500$ then they had how many for the falcons to make the super bowl 50-1 guy played another 500$. He was on the air and he picked up like 20,000$ off of Vegas, just because he was a homer. lol

If Kaepernick can do all of that again than he is the greatest QB who ever lived. I believe Deion said something to that effect on NFL network.

To be honest, depending on when you bet, Seattle did cover the spread (Late lines were 2.5 or 3, early lines were 1).

Used this site to find historical spreads:

We were 10.5 point dogs back in '98.

Well I like our chances....we like to be disrespected...we like to make games interesting (no one should ever leave their seat in a Dome game....

We don't like the easy way.....we like the hard way....it is what we do...I would love to blow out San Fran and whoever we face in the Superbowl...but until Smitty tells our guys it is time to pad their stats....I am afraid we will always be "exciting"

Let's hope Smitty will take off the restraints in the next two games I think our defense will do well against Kaepernick......he can't throw as well on the run and we know he likes to run...we just need Weatherspoon or Dentt to spy the guy all night long.....the pressure was good today but RW is one elusive SOB can't tell you how many times I thought we had a sack only to have the play extended.

The rest of the world may hate or disrespect us but make no mistake, Vegas cares about one thing and one thing only - $$$. Besides you know the lines are set up to try and get even bets on either side, so if anything it's a reflection of how the general population thinks, not some Vegas fat cats putting on their Falcons hate. They would put the Falcons at minus 100 if would make them money. They are as far as you can get from being emotionally attached.
