Julio end around has been a positive play for us all season but not that time. I still don't understand the interception. Why did Ryan throw it into double coverage like that when it wasn't there. Where was the outlet option?

It looked like Roddy got tripped up...I think it was incidental but if Roddy doesn't trip he is right there to meet hook the pass before the defender ......I thought PI but when looking at tape I think his legs got tangled...the pass would have been perfect if Roddy doesn't go down and he would have caught it instead of the defender....it would have been a hell of a throw....the first int was FAR worse in my opinion....he either missed his mark or Tony G cut the pattern short....

The first interception was just Ryan and Tony not being on the same page. That happens sometimes. Ryan expected Tony to continue across and if he had it's a perfect throw so Tony can catch it and run with it. But Tony stopped for some reason.

One last thing...I didn't really notice at the time but I heard it on some recap shows that ATL went into a soft zone when we got up by 20 in the 4th....JJ Stokes (I know don't poke me but I think he is right) said that he wouldn't be worried about ATL defense...he thought we got up big and went into soft zone and that fed into Russell Wilson's strength when he was flushed from the pocket....made a lot of sense....my only question is when they scored so effortlessly why not go back to our normal bump and run coverage....

Prevent defense and soft zone are KILLERS we need to stay with what works.....we 8 quarters of Falcon's Football to play....let's do this hoist the trophy....we can work on soft zone defense next year....then toss it out of our playbook....

i get putting people back on a hail mary.....but not when you are up by 20.....you play your game.....

we played soft zone for most of the game it would seem. It just seemed to bite us a lot more later on as the players wore down. I think in this game we have to be physical thorugh and out hustle them. We were never in a position to do the characteristic thing for us of breaking and driving on the ball, T

if you watch it again - HD got in tonys way and he checked up on his cut andRyan was early with the throw...jst an execution thing

The defense was designed to stop Lynch and spy on Wilson. It worked in that the Falcons pretty much stopped the run, but it basically dared Wilson to beat us with his arm. He finally started to do that and it snowballed on us. Why did it snowball? The long plays completely gassed the secondary and especially the LBs in coverage.

Meanwhile the offense hit a dry spell. They were facing the best defense in the league in terms of scoring average and so sometimes these things happen. The Seahawks had our screens and gadgets covered and Dirk didn't come up with the proper play calls tn response to that.

The Falcons defeated the best team they will face all year. It wasn't pretty, but they did it. Give both teams some credit.

I'll tell you what happened. At halftime, Smitty gave a speech somewhat similar to this:

"Guys, what the fuck are you doing? We're the Atlanta Falcons! This isn't week 8, this is the playoffs! We're not supposed to be playing like this. We have a damn reputation to live up to, we've got to crush the souls of our fanbase! Now go out there and fuck shit up like you want to lose this!"

Despite this speech, we actually won.

We didn't get cocky, but we did get conservative in our approach as if we had one eye on the clock for the entire 2nd half. And then we got cute with that Julio reverse and that was the one play where the momentum really shifted as Matt threw an INT the next play and it was on from there.

I get what you are saying but it wasn't the entire second half it was just the 4th quarter. We had one possession in the third and it was a long touchdown drive which is exactly what you want at that point. If we do that just on one of the remaining drives there is no drama at all.

The interception was huge, in fact it could be argued that we should have been more conservative at that point. Personally I like the aggression but I also understand it comes with risk. Put simply, we just flat out didn't execute in the 4th, well until we absolutely had to which works for me.
