Which Job Opening Is The Best? - AUTiger7222 - 01-01-2013 01:01 AM
So if you were an NFL coach and you had your choice of any job which job opening would you want and why?
The open jobs are;
Kansas City Chiefs
San Diego Chargers
I would pick the Browns. They have a new owner who used to be a season ticket holder for the Steelers. So hopefully he learned that continually is an important aspect successful organizations have. I really like the Browns talent. I think they are a quick fix. They have made a lot of good draft picks in recent years. I'm not a fan of having a 30 year old Brandon Weeden. But I like what I saw outta him last season. Draft a QB and develop him while getting the most you can outta Weeden and then hand the reigns over in a year or two.
Also Cleveland sports fans are great when they have something to cheer for. The Dog Pound is one of the best traditions in professional sports. I think it's the best NFL opening.
So what do you guys think? What job would you want?

I would take Arizona. Draft a good QB and RB and build the O-line and you have a good to great team. The defense is already great and you have Fitz with a developing second WR in Floyd
Ryan Williams can be good but he is always injured and plus that O-line is detrimental to any QB. But you have less positions you need to focus on.

If I am a coach, I would take any of those jobs. There are only 32 Head Coaching jobs in the world.
Sizing up the choices, I would prefer the team with the most cap flexibility and the most patient owner/fanbase. Additonally, I would make sure that my philosophy matches my GM's.

KC or Arizona.
KC has talent there already, play in a very weak division, and has an awesome fan base. It wouldn't take much (starting QB) to put them in the hunt for the division, or the very least the wild card, every season. Arizona probably has the most talent on both sides of the ball (one QB short) of any of the openings. Both those franchises just need to score a high level QB through a trade or the draft and add in some solid coaching.

I think Arizona is one of the worst jobs because you need so many pieces on offense including an entire OL. They have a solid defense but it's hard to fix an OL over night. You can try to mask it like the Falcons have done but we had the luxury of Michael Turner and Matt Ryan and Roddy White. All Arizona has at the skill positions is Larry Fitzgerald. And this is a very weak QB class. I think the Cardinals are light years away from being a playoff team.
The reason I think Cleveland is the best is because they have some decent skill position players and a solid OL and an ever improving defense. Oh and they're special teams is solid. I honestly believe they'll be in the playoffs within the next 3 seasons if not sooner. I really like that team.
But I was thinking this would be up for good discussion since we all see things differently.

I can't answer specifically because I don't have the info but I would go with the team with the best organization / ownership / leadership, because if you don't have that you have no shot no matter who you are.

If you can get Cutler not to act like such a chooch, then it's gotta be Chicago. They need an overhaul of the O-line and they need to draft some new defensive players, but otherwise someone can come in and challenge GB for the division.
Or have Cutler kill their career.

Arizona and Kansas City. I mean, come on man.
Arizona has a great defense, great receivers, and their running backs are solid if anything when they are healthy. They may have a shaky offensive line, but if you get them a quarterback they will go places.
Kansas City is a playoff team that has pretty much everything in place, except a quarterback. I really believe though that with the right scheme, they don't need a great quarterback. Just a guy that can manage a game. Cassel could do it, but he needs a scheme that suits him.

Who do the Cardinals have at receiver besides Fitz? I really like Ryan Williams and Stephens-Howling at running back but they are usually hurt.

Andre Roberts had a breakout year, plus they drafted Michael Floyd and have Early Doucet. That's a helluva WR corps.
