Koetter set to interview with Eagles, Browns, and Cardinals - ChrisD - 12-31-2012 03:45 PM I know this could go in the Coaching thread that was made, but this is OUR guy. I want to hear what everyone has to say about this. Seems like Koetter is going to interview with the Philadelphia Eagles for the Head Coaching job, along with a few other teams that have shown interest in him. I'm not sure how I feel about this. In one aspect I feel great for the guy. That's awesome. I also don't really know if I care too much. I mean, when you take a look at our offense - there wasn't anything extremely special about it. All our players achieved what they were capable of all along. We haven't really seen anything special at all out of the game planning on offense. I think that he did a whole hell of a lot better than Mularky, but I don't think he's a guy who we will be hurt by if we lose him to another team. I pray to all that is holy though that Mike Nolan stays in Atlanta! RE: Koetter set to interview with Eagles, Browns, and Cardinals - keithbrooking56 - 12-31-2012 04:13 PM I don't think it would be panic time if we lost him but I hope we don't. The one glaring weakness to our offense is the almost complete inability to run the football. RE: Koetter set to interview with Eagles, Browns, and Cardinals - ChrisD - 12-31-2012 04:14 PM I just hope that he at least waits to make a decision until after the playoffs. Much like Mularky did last season. RE: Koetter set to interview with Eagles, Browns, and Cardinals - RnB - 12-31-2012 04:31 PM I have the same issue with losing Koetter as I did with Mularkey, but less so; continuity is key. Hopefully we don't lose him, but if we do, we already know that we can adjust to a new OC and still maintain a top notch offense. It is hard to believe we could do it two years in a row, especially if we bring in a more complex scheme and don't hold onto the things we have been doing over the past five years, but I am hopeful that it can be done if need be. We traded a more prominent running game for a more prominent passing game and didn't see much of a drop off (I haven't looked at the numbers comparison in a few weeks) in production or wins. We have all seen how focusing less on the running game has impacted our offensive line and the ability to use the running game as a real threat, but have also seen the screen game do wonders for us and keep defenses guessing. I am of the opinion that a true running game is more important, especially at this time of year, but I think we have the players and coaches to win the Super Bowl without it. RE: Koetter set to interview with Eagles, Browns, and Cardinals - JDaveG - 12-31-2012 05:09 PM A lot of times, younger coordinators get HC interviews as favors to people who know them. It bolsters their resume. I seem to recall Koetter getting attention for HC jobs last offseason too, so that might not be the case with him. But I'd sure like to think he wouldn't come here for 1 year and leave. Nolan, obviously, is a different kettle of fish. RE: Koetter set to interview with Eagles, Browns, and Cardinals - Aftermath - 12-31-2012 07:03 PM I don't really give a shit if we lose him, Ryan could do his job, but I do care if he spends more time worrying about getting a HC gig than he does winning a playoff game. Didn't we have to give permission for him to interview? should have grown some balls and told them to wait until we are done with the post season. Fuck that guy RE: Koetter set to interview with Eagles, Browns, and Cardinals - ATLBound - 12-31-2012 07:42 PM (12-31-2012 07:03 PM)Aftermath Wrote: I don't really give a shit if we lose him, Ryan could do his job, but I do care if he spends more time worrying about getting a HC gig than he does winning a playoff game. Denying Koetter an interview to possibly progress his individual life could have reflected negatively and Koetter could have been upset with the decision which could also cause a disruption with gameplanning. I dont think its about growing balls but rather about doing the right or the positive thing. RE: Koetter set to interview with Eagles, Browns, and Cardinals - ggp - 12-31-2012 08:27 PM I like what Koetter and Nolan have done for us. Having said that, I would like to see our coaching staff have every opportunity to better themselves. Let them interview this week, as long as they concentrate on the business at hand thoughout the second season. RE: Koetter set to interview with Eagles, Browns, and Cardinals - TeamPlayer1 - 12-31-2012 08:30 PM We are fucked! Our OC is once again focused on his new negotiations and not on a Falcons game plan. To my dismay we will probably be one and done! |
