The written confirmation may have been one thing but there was clearly a contemplation on going to Dallas. They have a better defense and a potential to be a just as potent offense or maybe a notch below.

You got your coach so in the end it doesn't matter but if Dallas was out of playoff contention, then I dont think the contract would have been agreed to so soon.

No, he is wrong. Payton stated all along that he had no intention of going anywhere. Payton and Jerry Jones are friendly acquaintances, they are far from being good friends. Payton is far closer to the Benson family and has been in constant contact this past year with Tom Benson while working for the Hornets.

Payton would never work for Jerry Jones if Jones had any say in player acquisition. That is why he had originally had the Loomis clause written into his contract. The whole Dallas possibility was media created and was denied by all really involved.

As for the Parcells deal, he actually used that escape clause and totally screwed the Miami franchise. The Dolphins are still trying to recover from that debacle. Why would Payton want a similar clause that would only serve to screw the Saints in the unfortunate event that Loomis was hit by a bus or such? It was the dire consequences of that clause for the Dolphins and their fans that caused the Commissioner to frown on accepting that type of language again.

They never offered bounties. How could he tell them to stop something that never happened?

Why the hell would Payton be disappointed? Since Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys they have been a continuous train wreck. Jerry Jones wouldn't be disappointed because he knows that Payton would never work for him and he would never admit that he can't run all football operations on his own.

The Saints have won more games over the past 13 years than the Cowboys and more total games including the playoffs for longer than that. Why would he want to go to a losing cause like that with no chance of being able to be involved in personnel moves?

Dallas is destined to remain a dung heap.

There is zero chance that Payton isn't disappointed that he did not get to team up with Jerry in Dallas.

My gawd! You truly don't have a clue, do you? If there was any desire whatsoever that they wanted to get together it would have been a done deal. Payton would never, ever work for Jones. Stop embarrassing yourself.

I know this much.. the Cowboys are taking the Raiders road to stinkville and as long as Jerry has control that's where they will stay.. Now.. I am sorry if somebody gets Butt hurt.. but I guarantee y'all that Jerry is NOT gonna get an established NFL head coach again.. all he will be able to lure in are assistants looking to buck up and show they can do the job and get some experience before they resign or get fired.. I suppose he MIGHT find a has-been or two... but.. not Payton.. Hopefully the man is to smart to get pulled into that circus of a team..

Its funny how a person can accuse someone of embarrassing themselves when you have the statements you made prior to the season started on your resume.

You're wrong. I'm not saying he was more likely to coach at Dallas, but it certainly wasn't ZERO chance. He definitely probanly preferred New Orleans, but circumstances, money, etc talks in siuations like these.

And spare us the he said, she said stuff....what do u expect Payton to say?

He didn't tell them to stop. He told them to keep on doing what they had been doing but don't get caught doing it. Read the dang report. It is all there.

And my point about the Parcells deal still stands. The Commissioner is trying to help the Saints franchise and other franchises avoid stepping in the same pile of excrement the Dolphins did but in your paranoid world you only see it as the Commissioner being out to get the Saints.

I am in the habit of going to New Orleans once a year to play cards and enjoy some time away from everything else but I think I am done with that. Between the freaking Saints fans and the blatant out in the open racism I experienced there as of late, I just don't enjoy it very much anymore. I'll just stick to Vegas for my card playing going forward despite the fact that the locals in New Orleans play so darn poorly.
