Thanksgiving Games - AUTiger7222 - 12-26-2012 04:30 AM

The NBA really does Christmas day right. They fit 5 national TV games into Christmas day. Now I understand that NBA games only take 2 hours to play where as NFL games take 3 hours to play. But the NFL could fit 4 games into Thanksgiving. The first Thanksgiving game starts at 12:30 EST. Just back that up 30 minutes to 12:00 EST and then bang have games at 12, 3, 6 and 9. The NFL can't say that starting a game at 9 pm EST is wrong because they did it for years with MNF. It would be cool to have 4 games on Thanksgiving. It would also be cool to get the Cowboys an Lions off of Thanksgiving.

No Thanks...I think 2 is plenty on Thanksgiving. Most players deserve that time with their family. Doing this to 8 teams including 4 that would have to travel......plus NFL games tend to run over three hours....then then would hold each game until the previous was through....could you imagine if the first 3 went into OT.....YIKES!

I am ok with 3....didn't watch but about 1.5 anyway this Thanksgiving.......if it isn't my team or it doesn't have some meaning I typically don't even care to watch....

How about just stop with the Cowboys and Lions. That's always been too much silver and blue for my tastes.

They don't have to hold up the other games before starting the next game. The NBA doesn't. The Rockets/Bulls game was already in the 2nd quarter by the time the Thunder/Heat game ended.

The travel wouldn't be an issue if the NFL would get with the program and make teams bye week before they play on TNF.

I don't want my Falcons gameday experience ruined by family.

i may be way in the minority here, but i'd like to see thursday games go away all together. think about it, a team could have a monday night game, a sunday game and a thursday game. that's 3 games in an 11 day stretch. not enough time for planning, resting and healing. with only 3 extra days off before the next game, unless it's the bye week.

Which is stupid for NFL to schedule games like that. But the perfect thing to fix that is by giving teams their bye week before they play a TNF game. We don't have to have TNF every week. Just have the opening game like they've done for years and then have it from about 4 or 5 to week 11 or 12.

Here's how it should work.

Sunday - Play
Monday - Off (1)
Tuesday - Off (2)
Wednesday - Off (3)
Thursday - Off (4)
Friday - Off (5)
Saturday - Off (6)
Sunday - Off (7)
Monday - Off (8)
Tuesday - Off (9)
Wednesday - Off (10)
Thursday - Play
Friday - Off (1)
Saturday - Off (2)
Sunday - Off (3)
Monday - Off (4)
Tuesday - Off (5)
Wednesday - Off (6)
Thursday - Off (7)
Friday - Off (8)
Saturday - Off (9)
Sunday - Play

But that makes too much sense.

Guys it's all about the money. The NFL makes bank off of those Thursday games. And $$$ is all the NFL cares about. Not the safety of the players, if they cared about safety they wouldn't want to go to an 18 game season. And they wouldn't have Thursday games. I think the ravens or someone this year played 3 games in 11 days. It's ridiculously stupid.

As a fan I like Thursday night games makes it possible to watch games on Thursday Sunday Sunday night and Monday. It's great no 6 day wait till the next game.

I'm not sure if any of yall noticed the scheduling in regards to the Thursday night game. I don't recall them ever scheduling a Monday night game for a team and then a Thursday night game.

It was always Sunday, Thursday, Sunday or some variation of a bye in there.

As for Thanksgiving....keep it as is. Football is more popular than basketball so viewers care more about seeing the whole game as opposed to missing a few minutes of a basketball game.
