Will the records fall? - Xanthri - 12-17-2012 02:01 AM

He had 212 today...

Total 1812 needs 2105 - needs 294 or an average of 147 yards against the Texans and GB packers....

I am really hoping he does.....he is a stand up guy and after his injury last year....he has been impressive this year.....has helped my FF team.....big time....

Does he do it...I think he get 180 against the Texans (they gave up 105 on 18 carries to Vick Ballard......).....he will find the holes he needs.

The quest continues....

I forget how much Calvin needs I want to say like 1848 and he got 121 today....I think he is at 1667 yards for the season....He needs 181 yards.....

How many does he get versus ATL...i think he gets about 75-95 against us....but i think he will get 125 or more against the Bears......

Honestly if we hold him under 75 yards he could be in serious trouble going into the Bears....Defense....

We only factor into one of these two records.....I just want to know what people think....I would love to see Petersen have an epic day versus the Texans.....and I hope that Calvin has a horrible day against us.....(can he break the record after being the cover boy for Madden 2013????!?!?!?) The Madden Curse TRULY BROKEN?!?!?

CJ has all them yards and only has like 5 or 6 touchdowns this season and the Lions are only 4-10.

That is not an answer, it is an observation.....does he break the record or does ATL and CHI keep him under 294 total?

If we had Grimes, I'd say CJ doesn't have more than 70 yards against us due to Grimes' leaping, but jump balls on Asante and Dunta might be effective. I guess we'll just have to take Stafford down before he can throw it.

What AU is saying, is regardless of the record, the Madden Curse did strike, and his TD and win totals are a sign of that.

I think AP gets it, and CJ just misses. If he gets hurt in the next 2 games (he has nursed injuries this year), EA is going to have to find some other way to do Madden covers, because no player in their right mind will want to chance it!

Well, I'm sure money will change their minds.

I wonder, with the NFLPA contract, can a player refuse to go on the cover?

RE: Will the records fall? - Xanthri - 12-17-2012 03:23 AM

i think a player can refuse the cover. But I think the competition they hold they make all competitors agree to go on the cover if they win.

As far as the curse even if his team loses and he doesn't get the TDs he did last year. the curse is for underperforming due to injuries even with injuries he has a good chance to break a long standing record....I think that means the curse is blown....however if he comes up short in addition to those other stats do you then say the curse was a factor?

I think they will both get it....AP may have a harder time against the Texans....but he already ran for 200+ against GB so if he can get over 100 next week i say he makes it....I think he gets 180 next week and leave the mark at needing a little over 100 to break it.

As for CJ...since he is up against us I hope we hold him to like 40 yards (and he is on one of my fantasy teams vying for the FFL championship....if we hold him under 50 he will miss it....if he gets over 50 he will get the rest against the bears.....

It will be fun to watch...I want Eric Dickerson's record to fall it has been around since I was a freshman in high school...and Jerry's was when I was in College.... I hate when records stand so long....it will be nice to see them fall....

Watching CJ and AP chase the record will be fun

Yes. I don't think CJ will get that record. I think AP will get the rushing record.

Calvin has a 45 inch vertical with a 6'10" wingspan. Not fair. And even though Grimes is awesome it is equivalent to asking him to block a shot from Lebron James. Ain't happening. Calvin's maximum jump height to Grimes is probably 18" higher. Sports science said Calvin has the ability to catch a ball at 12.5 ft. That is crazy.

AP still has to face the leagues top rushing D next week in Houston. If they hold him under a 100 yards probably not going to happen. That is such a tough record to break. Meanwhile the lions have to face us and then the Bears. The bears might be fighting for something and their corners are pretty good. He might get a chance since Stafford throws like a million times a game but it will be close.
