RGIII after getting smashed by Spoon had to make a promise to his teammates that he'll try to get out of bounds to avoid getting hit like that in the future.

Every time one of these QBs come along this same conversation happens. Then they hit the wall where teams prepare for them. RG3's best asset is that he is accurate as a passer. Eventually teams will spy him with faster linebackers or safeties or whatever and keep him in the pocket, like Vick and Newton. Where he will be saved is that he can throw the ball. NFL DC's are very smart. They will learn to adapt to him like they did everyone else.

Yep. Tried to tell people that RGIII is nothing like Cam and Vick. He can actually pass.

Sir,most NFL QB's can pass. The question is how long can a running QB stay healthy in the NFL.

Well if he sticks to his word, as he promised his teammates after the Spoon hit, he'll last many years.

I hate to bring this up, but Vince Young could pass. He led the nation in completion percentage his last year at Texas. And he was NFL offensive rookie of the year.

I heard Parcells say this about Vick once several years ago. "Can we let that guy win won title before we start crowning him as the best player of all time?"

I hate that guy, but he was right. Newton was great last year. Young was good his rookie year, and there have been times in Vick's career that he has looked like the greatest player ever. Give them time before putting a crown on them.

Running QBs bring excitement. Young completed 51% of his passes for 2199 yards and 12td 13ints his rookie year. The next year he improved to 62% 2546 9-17. That's over 15 starts. That's good?
Vick had that good season in 2010 because most teams forgot about what he is capable of and he played only 12 games. By the end he was declining pretty hard.

Bad passing isn't exclusive to running QBs. Matt Lineart was pretty good in college too.

Vince Young wasn't a good passer in the NFL and I never thought he would be. RGIII is special. He's everything we wanted Vick to be.

Nah....

NFL > NCAA

That might rustle your jimmies more than the discussion about why an offense centered around a QB run option will never last in the NFL. Wink
