Is it possible they could make room for tailgating? not sure how they are going to do that because from what i've seen, the lot is pretty small. There's no way Blank going to take it out of the City of Atlanta, they basically giving him 50 million for staying in the city. RE: Falcons Expected To Have New Stadium Deal In Place By Dec. 31st - phocis850 - 11-27-2012 08:40 PM Moving it out of downtown would be awesome, but highly unlikely. 50mil is a lot to turn down when you know the location isn't going to make or break fan turnout. If the stadium is some where in gwinnett, i would easily going 2-3 games a year. Because of where it is, and how hard is it to get through the traffic of downtown, i bet a lot of our fans turn the game down as well. Just think of it, most of atlanta's population lives in Gwinnett not downtown. The tickets sells would see an increase if Blank move the stadium in metro atlanta.. Falcons Expected To Have New Stadium Deal In Place By Dec. 31st - babuka - 11-28-2012 04:19 PM I hate where the stadium is now. I live south of Atlanta and wouldn't mind driving further if the stadium's immediate surroundings weren't so sketchy and unorganized. Tailgating for Atlanta is terrible as it is now with the fan base spread out over 100 unconnected random parking lots all around the stadium. Tampa's stadium is set up much better than the dome from that standpoint. Parking lots are fewer in number, but much larger. The area around the stadium is nicer. The main reason I wanted a new stadium is that I wanted it in a different location. Maybe if they could buy up some land around it and make it part of the stadium's official land and parking lot it would be better. Good bit of land south and east of the stadium that it could possibly buy up. A billion should be able to buy a lot of land to go with the stadium. Last few times I went, the parking lots and surrounding areas were shady and not family friendly. RE: Falcons Expected To Have New Stadium Deal In Place By Dec. 31st - RFlagg - 11-28-2012 04:40 PM If you really want to see what is wrong with the location of the Georgia Dome, take a look at the overhead on Google Maps and compare it to some of the top stadiums around the league. Georgia Dome Arrowhead Stadium Gillette Stadium Lincoln Financial Field Lucas Oil Stadium Raymond James Stadium Heinz Field Soldier Field Qwest Field Cowboy Stadium Lambeau Field What do all those others have in common? Lots of places to park and Tailgate. Even Soldier field, which is fairly close to downtown Chicago, has a ton of parking and a parking deck. What does the area around the Georgia Dome have? $10-20 parking lots on game day that are half a mile away and the CNN Center parking garage. RE: Falcons Expected To Have New Stadium Deal In Place By Dec. 31st - Drathdon - 11-28-2012 08:52 PM Tailgating, please! Wow! I never realized it was that bad. The Superdome doesn't have tons of onsite parking but most visitors seem to enjoy parking closer to the before and after game entertainment. That said, the parking garages surrounding the Dome greatly surpass the capacity of the Georgia Dome. Hell yes you need something new ... elsewhere. |
