completely agree - I could have gotten over the whole felony, time served thing - but when he came out and said he was not really trying in Atlanta, I lost it

Great post. I really am beginning to hate Vick. What a shit thing to say. Tells me he has not taken responsibility and still thinks he is entitled. He is going to screw up again it's just a matter of time.

He didn't say anything about coaching. He said we never gave him the tools. He had the tools. I agree about the coaching; however, to claim that lack of weapons was Vick's problem here is just patently to ignore the fact that he was too worried about smoking weed and fighting dogs to give half a shit about his football career.
I'm with HD -- all he needs to say about Atlanta is "they gave me my shot and I shit all over them -- my fault." I wish him well in Philly, but if he keeps pretending he had no part to play in his lack of success here, I'll frankly have no use for him at all.

You can't say we gave him the tools. Knapp never let him audible out of anything. He had Peerless Price, a Roddy White with stone hands who admitted he didn't try, and Jenkins who had terrible hands too. We had Dunn and an terrible offensive line. And a mediocre defense and terrible special teams. Fault lies with McKay for his inability to bring in any playmaker on offense, while instead he would trade for turnstiles like Mike Gandy.

youre right, vick was holding us back then, not the playcalling or lack of playmakers. thats why we were able to draft ryan with the 3rd pick when he left. because we were so much better without him. lets get real. roddy and jenkins were nowhere near where maclin and jackson are you cant be serious. that alone and the playcalling is night and day. you dont remember the skins game where vick and jenks had to "overcome coaching" to win the game? knapp wanted dunn up the middle (homo pun intended) and vick basically said fuck you and your wack gameplan. of course he could have done better here but to act like he had a super bowl handed to him on a silver platter is intellectually dishonest. put aside your hate for a second.

It just wasn't even necessary for Vick to say.
If he was a classy individual like Donovan McNabb he wouldn't have found it necessary to take a backhanded slap at the Falcons.
Ask yourself this question fairly:
Who put forth more effort in the time that Vick was the starting quarterback for the Falcons?:
Vick or the other players, coaching staff and front office of the Falcons?
Vick admitted on 60 Minutes that he didn't always try hard when he was a Falcon....and now, he didn't get enough opportunities?
Well shit, maybe if you did try harder you might have spotted a few more opportunities.
It is what it is.
Screw Vick, Brooking and any other former Falcon who feels the need to crap on the organization once they quit wearing the red and black.

he did win in atlanta. as much as he could with what he was given to work with. 130 million doesnt make your receivers more reliable or better able to get separation. it doesnt plug the holes in your sieve of an offensive line. it doesnt make arthur blank tell randy moss to go screw himself when wr was a huge need in the name of "good character". it doesnt make jay feelys kicks go through the uprights. you have all your hate in one basket when theres plenty to share with everybody.

You're right - Vick had nothing to do with our lack of success. He was a HOF QB being held back by no weapons, bad coaching and bad ownership that wouldn't do right.

Zigg, as a fan, you have every right to make that argument.
As the guy who lied to the owner's face. As the guy who was so addicted to the ganje that he tested positive WHILE AWAITING SENTENCING. As the guy who was, in his own words 'LAZY', as the guy who counted upwards of 15 millions against our salary cap while he was rotting in prison. As THAT guy, I just don't think Mike Vick has the right to say word one critical about anything that happened here. And if he does, he's a schmuck.
By the way, the reason we were in a position to draft Matt Ryan 3rd? We had traded Matt Schaub because we knew we could rely on Michael Vick . . . . we had his word on it, remember?
