The Problem with Starting the Heisman Talk in September - Peyton - 10-24-2012 02:57 PM

Remember when Geno Smith was the Heisman front runner after throwing for 12 TDS and 900+ yards against Baylor and Texas?

Well that's the problem with talking Hesiman in the first week of October.

Did you see what happened to him the last two weeks? Complete destruction at the hands of Texas Tech, then even worse destruction in a home game against Kansas State.

So much for the Geno Smith Heisman campaign.

On a side note - that KSU QB throws like a girl but he is highly effective, and that team is a serious national title contender.

Not only did they go ahead and give Geno the heisman back then, they declared him the likely #1 pick in the draft too.

Colin Klein (KSU's girl-throwing QB) is a great college player, but will be a career backup in the NFL. Thankfully, he doesn't have nearly the hype that Tebow had coming out, so there won't be clamoring for him to start somewhere.

I have to say though....the last college QB that I thought threw like a girl was Matt Flynn. The Packers really worked over his throwing motion in the NFL though, and I think one day he is going to be a good QB for somebody.....just not the Seahawks apparently.

I still don't buy into Flynn. He was a game manager at LSU, but suddenly he becomes a gunslinger for the Packers last year?

Yep. Very, very, very fluky. Matt Flynn is Scott Mitchell 2.0.
