Am I the only one that's not impressed with Drew Brees having a touchdown pass in 48 straight games? As much as teams throw the ball now days that's just not that impressive. Now if it were 48 straight games with 2 touchdown passes then I would be impressed. But you can get a fluke touchdown pass to keep a streak like that alive.

The original record back when Johnny Unitas set it was far more impressive for a number of reasons. The passing game in the NFL back then was nowhere near what it is now. The defenses were tougher because there weren't near as many rules back to favored the offense. Defenses were allowed to do pretty much whatever they wanted. Plus QBs and WRs didn't have all that protection they have now.

I somewhat agree with you, but you have to be somewhat impressed because he's the only one that's done it.

The ironic thing to me about the streak is that he had back to back games without a TD before the streak started.

If he wants to keep that record, he should probably keep it going. Brady has a streak of 37 games and I don't know that his streak is going to end any time soon.

I agree. I had no idea there was even a record for this until 2 weeks ago. It felt a lot like media hype to get people to watch the game last night.

I'm pretty sure the NFL had this mapped out when they came up with the schedule. It's not a fluke that the record was set in a primetime national tv game and that it was against the Chargers. There was no way in the hell the Chargers were going to win that game. If I had the money I would have bet a couple hundred dollars on the game and I don't bet on sports because I think it's stupid. But the outcome of that game last night was never in doubt.

actually, didn't they say last night that during this stretch he has in fact averaged 2+ TD's per game? i know it's an average which means some games he only had one, but still

I will also say that I hate personal records in the NFL. There is no way that Brees accomplishes this without a line to block him and someone to get open and catch the ball. Football is the ultimate team sport. In baseball DiMaggio gets his consecutive hits record and that is all on him. Probably the only personal stat in the NFL is tackles and that's not even considered an official stat.

He's had 13 games during the streak with just 1 touchdown pass.

I completely agree with you. In fact a quick search found this pretty good article about tackles not being an official stat and it was just posted today.
