Sam Baker - ChrisD - 09-18-2012 09:40 AM

Can we all give a big round of applause to our starting LT Sam Baker? After he had a terrible year and was put on the bench in favor of Svitek, everyone was starting to consider him a bust. Well, now he's back fully healthy. He had a solid showing against the Chiefs, but it wasn't as if he had to block Tamba Hali or anything so no one was sure what to think.

The entire game last night he took on Dumervil and Miller 1 on 1 when they lined up against him and only once did I really see him pushed back big time. This should excite us. Perhaps Baker could be a solution for the left tackle a little longer than just this year if he keeps it up, and perhaps we could worry about other areas of concern.

I saw this as well. Hats off to Baker, he's played pretty well the first 2 weeks.

well lets see. it's his contract year isn't it? how many times have we seen, across the league not just with us, players ball out in their contract year then get lazy. he has a history of injury....i'm not sold yet

He pretty much man-handled two of the leagues premiere pass rushers. That's impressive in my books. And considering he has performed well in the past before he was hit with a couple injuries, I don't see how you couldn't get excited.

Cautiously optimistic...2 good games so far, 17 more to go! : )

Loved since him single-handledly shut down Elvis Dumerville last night.

My question is WTF has happened to Clabo? I mean he wasn't that great to begin with but now he's getting killed.

Clabo was always so good in run blocking. He looks average at it now. Maybe Dahl was the key to the right side of the line and made Clabo look good. Can Holmes play RT?

I don't know about a round of applause. First off he is just plain bad at run blocking, granted it appears that is a problem of the entire line. But secondly while he hasn't given up a sack yet he has been getting his ass handed to him. Every pass play I saw his man drove him back no less than five steps and once he was shoved into Matt seconds after the ball was released. He is mediocre at best in my book but looks all world compared to last year.

I think somebody...hint hint ^^^^....is watching a different game than the rest of us. I'm not totally sold yet but in 2 games he cant be denied
