You completely ignore the fact that we were playing with a lead the entire game, backed up on multiple drives, etc. I can't talk to someone with that little understanding of why running the football is important.....

That is what teams do with a lead in the NFL. This isn't college, teams don't air it out an entire game against inferior opponents.

AMEN!!!!

You do damage the way we did last week the next team is going to come ready to stop it. What would have allowed us run the screens more effectively is 2 fold.

1 Completing deeper passes, forcing the Denver DB's off the LOS and making them respect both our receivers on the outside and at least one inside receiver. Far easier said than done when they played a lot of man coverage. Zone on the other hand would have been more susceptible to the screens. If you can back those guys up you get a little more operating room.

2 Run Game. This is for play action screens and to keep the LB's honest to their primary assignment. consistent runs of 4 yards would loosen up the Defense because they have to remain honest Making that defense hesitate just a bit can be very valuable.

I wouldn't be too concerned though we beat and handled a very very good defense, we didn't let them rattle our QB we scored points on them and converted crucial downs. all against a very good D!! Next Sunday against San Diego expect an Offense closer to what came out in Kansas hopefully with better run production. But expect it to be a more aggressive offensive showing.

I think the game plan was right this week, execution at times but mainly field position put that in a hole. We're lucky Matt is as immovable as he has ever been here because another QB might have flapped on that pass he made from the endzone. His pocket presence is pretty sharp. The sack was more on him than the line I think though

Hard to complete deep passes when we never attempted them. Nobody has yet to explain how the running game had so much effect on the game that the Broncos defense had to respect it to open up the deep and intermediate passing game. Nearly all of Ryan's completions were 10 yards or less. His longest pass like 15 yards. If the running game is doing it's job and sucking in the defense why couldn't we get deep or intermediate passes?

How about we just give Denver's D some frikin credit?

They were playing at an elite level. No they didn't have turnovers, but they certainly affected our offense and we absolutely ballin in the second half.

This is the same Denver D that won games for Tebow and made it into the playoffs.

Do you guys fail to recognize that this was our second game with 2 new coordinators?

I'm not discrediting the Broncos defense. Just trying to understand why we never even attempted a deep pass. Deep passes don't have to be completed to send a message.

Denver was covering the deep very well. Didn't you notice that we were running people deep to clear out the middle of the field?

I understand we ran a couple deep routes but there wasn't any deep shots. Matt Ryan's longest completion of the game was 21 yards.

I was very impressed with Denver's defense. I felt like we did pretty good, all things considered.

It will be interesting to see how other teams do against their defense.

I'll have to wait to see Denver play more before I judge their defense for this year.

When I played on Defense Our front 7 were taught that we had to neutralise the Run so that our safeties could hang back and neutralise the deep to intermediate pass.

Matt attempted one deep pass to Julio and it was dropped in the end zone. I say deep really it was intermediate. after that the safeties lined up in the hashes deep enough to tell me they were playing the pass more than the run. If our run game ever got going they would have had to get more involved but it didn't. They kept the routes infront of them. Manning up on our receivers and gone zone over the top. It's very difficult to deal with that as it gives a team the freedom to quickly close on anyone who does get free.

Those safeties came in and made plays on the running cleaning up but they didn't do what our guys had to flowin in and stopping behind the line or on the line by design. It was more on reaction.

Peyton attempted 3 intermediate passes and all of them were picked off. Remember Koetter prefers to run his 4 verts but he and Matt clearly saw that taking that tact against this defense presented risks that they were not willing to take.

I think we need to get used to the idea of seeing our team play differently. Sometimes we will just drop bombs on you and and make it quick. Other times. It will have to be. Death by 1000 paper it's because whilst it isn't the most glamorous way to play it may be the most affective way to make sure we can put the W in the column.

Expect San Diego to get the Koetter experience on Sunday. Their Defensice statics comes at the benefit of going up against 2 very rubbish offenses thy have struggled to find consistency in any form for years. I expect those deep balls to be there but the way they are going to have to created is by our guys winning the battle through the route tree short medium to long. We can't rely on the run game to open up those seems. We now are in a position where are passing will be what allows us to run

I understand what you guys are saying but Smith's like 70-1 when leading in the 4th qtr or some ridiculous stat they showed on MNF so lets not get too carried away saying the other shoe is going to drop if this strategy keeps being employed.
