I think we will do a lot of second half running this year because the offense will be so explosive early. That's something I was hopeful of when I heard Koetter had a history coaching with Andy Reid. Something Andy Reid does philosophically that I LOVE is he uses the passing game to build a lead and then runs the ball in the 2nd half/4th quarter to burn the clock. And he does it very, very well, mixing in enough deep passing in the 2nd half to keep the defense back on their heels so the running game can work. I think that is a winning formula -- get a big lead and then burn the clock. I'm hopeful that's exactly what we'll do in the regular season. I'm still trying to figure out what the corner did wrong. From section 113, it looked like a perfectly defensed pass. Looked to me like he got a handful of jersey and that's why it was called. Even so, didn't really bother me, the coverage was tight, not like he was getting smoked. Our first team DOMINATED their first team, on both sides of the ball, 3/4 of those turn overs came from people who wont be on the roster week 1. If you didn't see the game don't look at stats and think it gives you a good picture of what happened. I thought the refs did a good job last night, minus the Arizona (x2) goof

That's good to hear -- it looked like an awful call from the stands and I was really ticked off about it. It's one of those few times you're at a game and thinking "I wish I could see this on the TV replay a few times." They replayed it once on the screen and it was essentially from the same angle I had from the seats. RE: Preseason Game 1 Injuries - ChrisD - 08-10-2012 01:03 PM It's the first pre-season game, so I'm not too worried about the penalties yet. Couple that in with the fact that these are the replacement refs, I think that most calls were questionable at best. Loved Matt's placement on his passes. Looked extremely good the first drive. In just one game, we can already see the extreme change in the playcalling from last season to this season. Loved the Julio Jones screen on the first drive. That's something we didn't really see at all last season. I love how Dirk called it. He showed off a lot of things that we've been asking to see. The defense looked alright. Hopefully they can look better as a unit later in the pre-season and into the season Preseason Game 1 Injuries - juraitwaluzka - 08-10-2012 03:39 PM (08-10-2012 12:21 PM)Nuccah Wrote: He didn't just get a handful of jersey, he pulled and you could see the WR slow down cause of it. I agree, I didn't have a problem with the call or the coverage. On another note I don't recall seeing Owens out there last night, the reason I say this is that I woke up today feeling somehow less stressed in general. RE: Preseason Game 1 Injuries - BC32 - 08-10-2012 05:51 PM According to the falcons official Facebook page Ewing has been placed on IR about 10 minutes ago.

Sadly the new league rules on IR (which allow one player per season to return to the team after week 8) only apply for players who are put on IR after the cutdown to the 53 player roster. |
