Jacquizz Rodgers "has the skill set to play on all three downs." - SLICK NICK - 08-02-2012 12:44 PM Jacquizz Rodgers - RB - Falcons Coach Mike Smith said he believes Jacquizz Rodgers "has the skill set to play on all three downs." ESPN's Pat Yaskinsas is almost certain the Falcons have big plans for Rodgers. "Jacquizz is not little," Smith said. "He's short, but he's thick." The coach went on to rave about Rodgers' pass-protection abilities. With Michael Turner's workload set to be scaled back, there's plenty of PPR flier appeal here. Yaskinsas says the Falcons want Rodgers to be "more like what Warrick Dunn once was." RE: Jacquizz Rodgers "has the skill set to play on all three downs." - papachaz - 08-02-2012 12:55 PM i am not going to totally disagree with what was said here, but, some of it is coach speak for sure. i remember the first time i saw quizz in pass protection, though i don't remember who the DT was, he literally picked him up and threw him backwards...he did improve a bit through the year i guess, but his pass protection is really the only thing about quizz that concerns me RE: Jacquizz Rodgers "has the skill set to play on all three downs." - Beef - 08-02-2012 01:14 PM Screen plays will actually help Quizz's pass protection too. Mularkey was good at fucking everyone equally. I always thought and still think he can transition into a every down back. I never thought of him as a Dunn type of back, but it's a good comparison of what he could do. RE: Jacquizz Rodgers "has the skill set to play on all three downs." - Dale4Saul2Red0 - 08-05-2012 11:04 AM (FFChamps) ESPN.com NFC South beat writer Pat Yasinkas said he thinks the Atlanta Falcons have big plans for second-year pro Jizz Rodgers at running back. Analysis: Falcons coach Mike Smith said Jizz has the skill set to play on all three downs. He also praised Rodgers' pass protecting ability. While it remains to be seen what value Jizz will have in fantasy leagues, it is looking more and more like Michael Turner will have his touches slashed significantly. His new nickname JIZZ is gaining steam RE: Jacquizz Rodgers "has the skill set to play on all three downs." - ggp - 08-05-2012 11:11 AM I too liked Rodgers in college. He is the kind of RB that is artful. By that, I mean that he has excellent body control and understands combative physics and angles. He makes contact and instantly twists his body to find the path of least resistance. He also understands how to get open and give his QB a visible target. With respect to his pass blocking, I don't think we can measure any RB's blocking abilities against any DT in this league. From what I have seen, he handles blitzing DB's and LB's well. Rodgers is not fast; I think his 40 time at the Combine was something like 4.58. He also did not perform well in the three cone drill. However, he looks like the sort of player with an unmeasured football intelligence and heart. I hope he continues to improve. It would be great to see him become a significant part of our RB rotation. Right now, we have Turner and Snelling to handle the bulk of the carries. Let's see how Rodgers fits into the mix. Hopefully, Koetter will make good use of him. He looked to be just as fast as Norwood was at full speed. |
