The Saints should easily have a top three offense once again this year with virtually everyone of note returning, Carl Nicks being the lone missing piece and Grubbs should slip in with no problem according to what the coaches are saying.

The Saints had a very poor defense last year. The LB corps was pitiful, the whole defensive game plan allowed for far too many big plays. The addition of Lofton, Hawthorne and Chamberlain could very well bring three new starters at LB. Lofton has dropped weight and appears to have added quite a bit of quickness. The coaching staff and other players have been amazed at his speed to the ball.

The defense WILL be improved. I have no doubt of that. As a whole the Saints should be a better team top to bottom than the 2011 version. Unless Atlanta improves quite a bit I don't see them catching up to the Saints.

On top of that, MM seriously mis-utilized players like Douglas, Gonzales, Turner, and Quizz. Roddy + Julio + HD + Gonzo + Quizz (and I'd bet Meier gets a bunch of action this year too) are going to put up receiving numbers very few thought the Falcons could.

Will we put up 5000 like NO might? I think we'll be closer to 5k than we are to 4k, that's for sure. And then the key is, we are going to have a dominant defense this year. Much better than last year and better than the Saints. Our DL, LB, and secondary will all be better than NO's. So we won't have to set records or get over 5k yards, even though I think we will come close this year. Our defense will actually be a factor and keep good offenses from beating us.
