RE: Sean Gilbert doesn't regret sitting out, backs Drew Brees' stand - keithbrooking56 - 05-30-2012 02:21 PM It really is bush league the Aints are putting Brees through this. The man has been as vital a part of a city and a fanbase as any athlete I can think of and not giving him a fair deal is just asinine. Benson reminds too much of the horrible, horrible Rankin Smith days that we Falcon fans suffered through for so many years with his draconian cheap ass ways. RE: Sean Gilbert doesn't regret sitting out, backs Drew Brees' stand - pauliwood - 05-31-2012 05:50 PM I just refuse to believe that the saints have not signed Drew at this point. I will not get excited about the fact that Brees is missing OTA's as we speak. Surely this isn't real, is it? Is this bizzaro world where there is some good reason to not sign the face of your franchise, and all around good guy? I just KNOW that ESPN will report a signing any day now, right!?!, I mean surely it's gonna happen, it almost has to, doesn't it? It just sees so blatantly obvious that they have to cave in an give him what he wants, right? It's not like Loomis has ANY high ground to stand on (figuratively of course as there IS no high ground in New Orleans). Speaking of that, when does his suspension start? Preseason week 1 or before? RE: Sean Gilbert doesn't regret sitting out, backs Drew Brees' stand - monoxide - 05-31-2012 06:21 PM Benson just got Anthony Davis, who needs Brees now?! Be has earned the money and he hasn't had any injury issues since joining the team. They have no one to take his place. The Saints don't have a choice. The team is going to be so disfunctional this year. They'll sign him.. Brees is a union leader playing hardball to look good for his boys. They should have signed him by now. I bet Brees is probably trying to get this thing really front loaded.. RE: Sean Gilbert doesn't regret sitting out, backs Drew Brees' stand - Falconidae - 06-01-2012 09:08 AM The Saints may simply be waiting to see what happens with the suspended players to see what their cap is like before signing Brees. that's probably what's going on. Of course, the people saying Brees will get signed are the same people that said he's get signed before the franchise tag was used. Aside from his bad experience with the tag from his SD days, Brees may be worried that the team is going to collapse from internal dissent. If the NFL has the "multiple independent sources", they have to be Saints' players, a locker room with 6-8-10 players who "snitched" might collapse upon itself. Brees [and possibly the saints] may be willing to write this year off, get Payton, Brees and a high draft pick next year and start over. Actually, they don't have to be Saints players. Multiple means more than one, possibly two. The Saints fired some staff at the end of 2010 and the defensive quality control coach is supposedly one of the "snitches". Curtis Lofton has said repeatedly that the Saints players are like one big family. I'll guarantee you there is zero "internal dissent". Also, Brees is in daily contact with the Saints through Chase Daniel and Coach Vitt, going over the playbook, OTA's ,and making plans for training camp. Why does Brees need to go over the playbook and be in contact with anyone? I thought he had the thing memorized along with all the gameplans and was ready to take up the slack for missing Payton? Payton already had the playbook designed when he left. Daniel said every day following team activities he gets together with Brees and they go over everything covered that day. Vitt has said he has been in contact with Brees to get his input training camp since Brees has several things he wanted incorporated into the plan.
