RE: Confused by Gonzo's comments on Matt in top 100 - ATLBound - 05-24-2012 12:32 PM No offense to the posters but if I was in sports and had to do an interview, then I would probably respectfully decline bc people misconstrue some of the simplest statements and make it seem much more than it is on a consistent basis. They either take one statement and generalize it or analyze it to death and it becomes much more than it is or it was meant to be. RE: Confused by Gonzo's comments on Matt in top 100 - Beef - 05-24-2012 07:28 PM Remember Matt has the coaches in his ear up until 15 seconds before the huddle breaks or 10 seconds before the snap in a no-huddle. So you will sometimes see the defense set and us look like we're doing a slow no-huddle because Matt's still getting some play options shouted in his ear. MM was often giving Matt 3 or 4 options to choose from. It wasn't always just Matt going from scratch. I think even our no-huddle will be better this year without MM's hand in any of it. RE: Confused by Gonzo's comments on Matt in top 100 - Jesus - 05-24-2012 09:27 PM TMQ has pointed out that Ryan does too much in the no huddle and it overcomplicates the offense. I don't agree but its out there. I want to know Gonzos excuse for disappearing in the playoffs the last two years. RE: Confused by Gonzo's comments on Matt in top 100 - DemBirds - 05-25-2012 01:31 AM I was confused as well, I'm sure he didn't mean that Matt couldn't function as well because we all know our offense was at it's best in the no huddle. I assume it was more of an indictment on Mularkey for that having to be the case when Matt could just be running his plays if he knew how to call them. RE: Confused by Gonzo's comments on Matt in top 100 - ATLBound - 05-25-2012 04:56 PM Sigh...all he was doing was answering the question. The female host asked: What is something that you see in Matt that others either don't see or can't see? Gonzalez responded: Matt's control of the no huddle It had nothing to do with Matt being overwhelmed or Matt having too much on his shoulders. It didn't have anything to do with how bad or good that he thought Mularkey ran plays. He was just simply answering a question and not trying to imply anything. I apologize if I seem frustrated. Please forgive me. RE: Confused by Gonzo's comments on Matt in top 100 - Falcons all the way! - 05-27-2012 11:38 AM (05-24-2012 11:51 AM)FullMetalFalcon23 Wrote: We already know we will see the no huddle still. However I'd like to think the plan is install Koetter's philosophy and playbook elements into the no huddle so that rather than it being a series if tweaks and adjustments. It could be more streamlined. Sometimes it did get quite messy out there. I have no doubt Matt can run the no huddle, it's obvious. But so much of his time had to be spent adjusting. I mean how often did he snap the ball before 10 seconds. The no huddle for Matt was like he stripped down the play called and re built it using route combo installed as audibles. As evidenced by the Jaquizz TD pass he also would change the routes to take advantage if the way the defense is playing. I agree totally! Another thing what bothers me...people fail to mention the drops. If I'm not mistaken, didn't we lead the league in drops? I understand that drops are a part of football but, Despite of the probowl, Roddy was not focus at all. He was good but not focus. Julio on the other hand, had alot of drops as well, but showed flashes of tremendous talent and will only get better with age. But hey" Roddy is a vet, and I'm sure he will bounce back from those drops. |
