Here is my thing about this thread:
If you don't think there is anything to debate about the Saints bounty situation, then why are you in this thread debating?
If you are going to be in this thread talking about the Saints bounty scandal, you have to follow the rules and be civil. If you can't, there are plenty of other places to talk football where they will let you act however you want. This is not one of them.
We are going to make this site what it was intended to be again. A place where people are treated with respect.

I think if they ask him to recuse, he really ought to recuse. If this was a court proceeding he would have to. He's not a neutral. Goodell has the authority to hear the appeal if he wants, but Tagliabue doesn't, and IMHO given his ties to the NFL, should be allowed to be delegated that authority.

If Tagliabue is recused from the case then I think that it is only fair that all contracts binding Benson and/or the NFL to Louisiana should also be rescinded since, if it was not for Tagliabue, there would be no New Orleans Saints at this point in time. Furthermore no judge or jury or third party within Louisiana should be allowed to hear this case as the NFL could not then get a fair hearing due to the adverse innuendo about the NFL that has been spread within the state.

It is the NFLPA that is wanting Tagliabue recused, not the Saints players. Vilma himself said he didn't have a problem with it.

The danger in asking Tagliabue to recuse himself is that Goodell might have installed Tagliabue to end this thing and give it a resolution. The players might like the way it turns out if they let it play out.
But I guess it's risky to take that chance. I think there is probably some netotiations going on behind the scenes. I do think all this is going to be resolved soon.
Maybe except Vilma. That's a bridge too far.

Vilma's only resolution is to get Mike Cerullo, NFL investigator Joe Hummel and Gregg Williams on the stand. He is in this to clear his name.

Duh. My post was trying to make it as clear as possible that the NFLPA has gone rouge and is not in this fight to help the players or the Saints franchise. Instead it wants to use this case to try and change the labor agreement that they recently signed. My proposal if enacted would make this even more obvious to the casual observer.

Gooddell absolutely handed it to Tagliabue to end it once and for all. Gooddell had the authority to refuse to recuse himself and all the pundits thought he would do just that. I for one was shocked that he recused himself.
