Why? The owners do not want to make these decisions and they the can say "Our hands are tied!" Actually, the NFLPA does have a say in the matter if they so choose. It could get ugly. Why do you think they have brought in the lawyers? It is to make sure that the league (Goodell) doesn't do to the players what he did to Payton. BTW, this is an open question to all of you. Just curious. Good discussion point. What if the outside lawyer was brought in to represent the viewpoint of the players who were targeted by the bounties? What if the outside lawyer was brought in to represent the viewpoint of the players who were targeted by the bounties? Come on. Get real. First, it wasn't a single lawyer. It was a firm that specializes in union based issues. And it isn't only to protect Saints players, it is to protect all players from Goodell. Many players have been coming out saying things right along the lines of what is being claimed. They are protecting the player base from unfair treatment being used to deflect the blame on the league. This isn't a player issue. This isn't a Saints issue. This isn't a team issue. This is a LEAGUE issue and they are scrambling to try to cover their asses. The NFLPA brought in defense attorneys in case criminal charges were filed against the bounty players. The NFL penalties are not subject to judicial review unless these criminal charges are filed. When N. Suh stomped the player's head no charges were filed so Goodell's punishment stood. It will probably be a few more years until he enters the coaching ranks. Nice deflection. You seem so proud of the fact that your organization is totally dysfunctional. Your d-coordinator seemingly could do whatever he wanted? He bragged about a f*ck you clause in his contract? So it's ok that he did all that? Get a grip dude. Regardless of what was in his contract he still had to answer to Payton, Loomis, and Benson. No matter what his contract said, he was lower in the food chain than them. And maybe the contract said he could run the defense how he wanted. I guarantee it had a criminal acts exclusion though. Good discussion point. Well I was hoping for something like this.... Oh wait, that's not me, that's you...... |
