I find the amount of damage control Asylum is trying to do on B&G amusing.

i dare anyone to try to convince me now that guido isn't just a freakin troll. if this past year didn't prove it, then the denial here in this thread should by all means take away all doubt.

HC and assistant - gone for the year "oh no problem, the QB and OC can run the show" to quote something i just heard on TV "has your pea brain finally fell out of your soft head?"

i would have to say i almost feel sorry for the Rams and Jeff Fisher, BUT, if JF and GW are as close as the media makes out they were, then he had to know williams style. to go ahead and hire him, he deserves to be scrambling to find a DC now

I still can't believe someone would think losing their HC, AHC, and GM won't effect their season negatively.

A ship has a Captain for a reason. If the 1st lieutenant and/or chief petty officer could do the same job as the Captain and bring all the expertise, leadership, and value of that individual to the ship, then the position of Captain wouldn't even exist.

The Captain is the glue. The figure of guidance that the subordinates depend on for organization, cohesion, and reverence. He is supposed to have superior knowledge and solutions than everyone underneath him and that's why people follow what he says and embed his values into their beliefs and motivation.

If the Saints were a losing organization and nobody liked or respected Payton and they were happy to start fighting for a new HC, then that's a different story. But those players depended on Payton like the Captain I described above and everyone knows it. Losing him is going to be like a dagger in the heart of virtually every Saints player. And that, along with the circus that's going to surround this whole thing, is going to take it's toll.

I look at him the same way I looked at people who thought Joey Harrington was going to take us somewhere in 2007. Not a troll, just off their rocker.

Per his words and attitude right now, if the Saints lose to the Falcons, he can't come here and go "Well we were missing our HC and GM and the team has been eaten alive by the media."

Come on. You know the Falcons can't beat the Saints.

Loomis' suspension is for "eight games". That means the regular season. Loomis, and his staff, has plenty of time to work out the long term deal with Brees. Heck, he just signed Broderick Bunkley today so he hasn't missed a beat.

Not important at all.

Sure there will be a negative impact. I just don't think it will be anywhere approaching disastrous. If Payton hadn't had all the piece together for several years it may have been more of an issue.

As for a circus, I will guarantee you this story will be history inside of two weeks. By the time training camp rolls around it will be a total non-issue.

And yes, the players all love Payton. But, they aren't a bunch of candy-assed pansies that will cower in a corner. I fully expect them to rally around this and play their asses of this year.
