But, to think that this is isolated to the Saints, or even Gregg Williams related teams, is totally naive. It doesn't make it anymore right, but what I am hearing from many of y'all is that it is a Saints deal. This stuff has always gone on in every clubhouse in the league, yes, even in Atlanta, but the Saints were the ones that happened to have someone rat them out with the league. RE: Saints Bounty System - Radical - 03-05-2012 04:37 PM And I'm saying that the bounty for injuring players isn't happening with every team, and suggesting otherwise is pure conjecture. RE: Saints Bounty System - Dale4Saul2Red0 - 03-05-2012 04:45 PM It's not even about the bounties anymore, it's about the lying of it. In 2009 the Saints told the NFL they would look into it and put an end to any such program. 3 years went by! 3 years! That's why the hammer is coming down strong. They blatantly lied to the face of the NFL and didn't do the things they said they would. That's the worst move of all. Also the punishment is going to be severe because the NFL can be held liable unless they send a STRONG message. Any player injured during a Saints game can go back, look at the tape, and sue the NFL. Goodell won't let this go lightly. The problem with your desperate argument is that it completely fails to distinguish between "$250 for a fumble recovery" and "$1,500 for a 'cart off.'" I really shouldn't have to point out that those two things are not remotely equitable, on a number of levels. Despite your persitent attempts to drag the rest of the league down into the muck with you, the fact of the matter is this: The Falcons and other teams did not have an incentive program instituted by the coaching staff, tolerated by the front office and partially funded by a convicted felon that financially compensated its players specifically for injuring opponents. The Saints did. Keep spinning, Homer J. RE: Saints Bounty System - markdzul - 03-05-2012 05:47 PM Opinions are such.... Of course AG is going to defend his team and I have no issues with it. Cooper makes a great point too on the side that the Saints were told to stop the practice two years ago and did not. I was under the original impression that they may get a slap on the wrist/fine. The more I hear about this in the media however I am inclined to think Goodell is going to bring the pain on this particular issue and really make an example of them as a franchise for doing this. This old saying kind of does it for me "there are two kinds of people in the world, the caught and the uncaught" Lots of teams out there are and or were doing it, but the Saints I believe are going to pay for it.... I will say this on the flip side. It would surprise me to the highest level if the Falcons were doing this. As clean nosed as this franchise likes to put forth with TD, Smith, McKay, and Blank in charge.... RE: Saints Bounty System - Dale4Saul2Red0 - 03-05-2012 07:46 PM Don't forget that there is supposedly outside money coming into this (the guy who got Reggie Bush in trouble at USC and Payton's agent have both allegedly been named). That makes it much bigger. An outside guy is putting up money to get a player hurt. RE: Saints Bounty System - phocis850 - 03-05-2012 08:38 PM At the end of this all, the saints will still be the best team in the nfc south
