Which is Nolans specailty and he built San Frans defense and I agree about Lofton, he has never been good against the pass. I think we get more from Free agency to fill the wholes then from the draft, but it wouldn't surprise me at all not this year but within the next 2-3 years we go to the 3-4, because that would give time for them to draft the players they need. Also Abe trying Free agrency, I wish him well, and hes one of my favorite players, their going to look at him like hes hurt all the time and it would surprise me if anyone hires him unless its league minimum, If I was him I would just retire and protect his groin.

Even if Abe walks, we won't switch to a total 3-4 this year. Nolan will run a hybrid defense. RE: PFT - Falcons won’t overpay to keep Curtis Lofton, John Abraham - m2Falcons - 02-24-2012 08:37 AM I think the Franchise Tag on Grimes is being put out there as a ploy to drive down the eventual "price" on a long-term deal. Grimes, if he has any sense, will NOT want to use another year with all the risks to his playing status, that refusing a reasonable offer from the Falcons would bring. I don't see any kind of bargaining strategy working with Grimes. He held himself out of the playoff game to protect his knee and payday, hired two new agents, and has a fucking crazy wife/manager. There will be no reasoning with him. If we tag him only for him to hold out I will be pissed. RE: PFT - Falcons won’t overpay to keep Curtis Lofton, John Abraham - papachaz - 02-24-2012 10:06 PM and now the newsline header has an article that abe wants 12 million a year?? seriously? sorry abe, love ya play dude, but you're nursed a groin injury the last few years, limited snaps because of and to prevent further damage, and you're in your 30's. 12 mill a year ain't happenin, been nice knowin ya RE: PFT - Falcons won’t overpay to keep Curtis Lofton, John Abraham - Anomaly - 02-24-2012 11:09 PM (02-24-2012 10:06 PM)papachaz Wrote: and now the newsline header has an article that abe wants 12 million a year?? seriously? sorry abe, love ya play dude, but you're nursed a groin injury the last few years, limited snaps because of and to prevent further damage, and you're in your 30's. 12 mill a year ain't happenin, been nice knowin ya @johnabraham55 I did not ask for 12 million a year, I simply stated that good ends make 12-16 a year & I asked if I was worth 10? https://twitter.com/#!/johnabraham55/status/173219734660186112 It's just jackass D.Led taking stuff out of context from that 2 Live Stews interview. I mean look at how young the guy is. He's already the leader of our defense, and to say there isn't room for improvement in any aspects of his game still is absolutely crazy. The guy is going to be a top linebacker for years to come. I know we have Spoon, but keeping Lofton needs to be a priority. Akeem Dent is not a long term answer for us at linebacker (As much as I do like what I had seen from the guy!). I really hope the Falcons don't spend huge money on Grimes only to pass up Lofton. You have to ask why is it that Lofton is still a liability against the pass on the field and in the minds of the coaches, even the new DC Nolan. It's gotta be due to problems with his knees. Even after that surgical procedure, I don't think it has really put anyone's mind at ease about his inability for pass coverage. |
