Will we move up? - ChrisD - 02-07-2012 11:19 AM Does anyone on here think there's a chance that we will try to move back up into the first round? RE: Will we move up? - papachaz - 02-07-2012 11:47 AM after watching the draft order scroll across the screen so many times since the end of the game sunday night and seeing there are some teams with more than one first rounder, makes ya wonder if one of those could be traded for.... RE: Will we move up? - markdzul - 02-07-2012 01:18 PM I just don't know how we can baring giving up our second this year and our first next year at a minimum based on the spot we go. Now if TD has someone in mind that slips into the second round and we have to give up our second and fifth, that could happen.... Going to the top of the first I see it as extreamly unlikely... RE: Will we move up? - Paprika Neck - 02-07-2012 01:23 PM Unless someone amazing falls to bottom first or someone realllllllyyyyyy likes somebody on our team that's expendable RE: Will we move up? - RFlagg - 02-07-2012 01:29 PM Ok, I'm just going to throw this out there, I don't know if anyone will like it. Let's say that we make the following moves before the draft: Resign Lofton, Biermann, Douglas, Abraham, DeCoud, Redman, Hayden, Zelenka, Weems, MClure, and Snelling. Pickup a solid guard and cornerback in free agency. If the Falcons have done all of this heading into the draft, would you be willing to trade away our remaining picks this year (2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th) for St. Louis's #2 overall and the ability to draft Matt Kalil? RE: Will we move up? - Paprika Neck - 02-07-2012 01:34 PM Fuck no this aint fucking new orleans RE: Will we move up? - FullMetalFalcon23 - 02-07-2012 02:04 PM (02-07-2012 01:29 PM)RFlagg Wrote: Ok, I'm just going to throw this out there, I don't know if anyone will like it. Let's say that we make the following moves before the draft: We would need to give them next years 1st possibly more. This is a bigger move up than last year and we aren't even swapping firsts. We would need to send them a player. Only player on our roster that I could see the rams wanting is Roddy. If that's the case we would be likely looking at getting a 3rd back or something. I don't see this happening at all though. We shouldn't be looking to make any move like that. We need to sure up guard or tackle i don't see us doing both not with the fact that we have gone for Johnson and Jackson I think we could go LT in FA and BPA in round 2. You get an LT like Gaither who seldom needs help with a rusher it makes those other 4 guys on the line better in their spots. 5 on 4 that is one double team 5 on 5 find your man lock on him keep the pocket clear 5 on 6 or more with a QB like Matt is gonna find the Hot read either pre snap or soon after. That back side blocker needs to be locked down and yes so to does the middle but I feel our biggest problem in this respect can be fixed by the new coaching and by getting one of those young guys in. Reynolds was horrible. Now that being said. If we can resign most of our players back say sans grimes. I we put that remaining room on guard and tackle then go BPA in Draft I wouldn't complain in the slightest. I don't honk whatever happens the way blank came out snarling we are gonna be looking at a situation where the lines are made worse than better. RE: Will we move up? - Jayhawk-Falcon2012 - 02-07-2012 03:22 PM Honestly no, I don't believe we'l be moving up this year. I feel this off-season/draft year is going to be focused on keeping Matt Ryan upright. We really don't need to be giving next years 1st, and the following years 1st, and so on and so forth. Priority issues for me are: 1. O-line - (LT/C/RG) I think Blalock and clabo had their play effected because of the In-and-Out of different Linemen through the year; we did start seeing better chemistry in the second half of the season, but we need to solidify it. Also Svitek is not a real solution to LT. 2. Grimes replacement (if he leaves/trade him) - Dunta will keep his job, not even sure about the backups we've got. Wall/Owens/Franks/Hayden, kind of a no-confidence vote for me. 3. Dline; Abe is getting slower and Edwards still on the fence (we'll see how Nolan utilizes current players). Maybe get the big DT most have been barking for. Babs is great, CP's been efficient, but we need a Dominating (Think Mt. Cody) force in the middle. 4. RB - I'm now on the thought that Turner either needs a huge role reversal, or he needs to show us he can adjust. Be more of a weapon (East West) rather than his previous image of tippy toey and 'soft' (maybe a better word could be used). If possible, Get Forte/Foster. Maybe even an upgraded O-line will positively help Turner. I'll give him a season under Koetter to see if he's an asset to the team ability to win a Ring. Many Many variables, and maybe i'm being too black and white on the issues but as of now these are the issues I see. RE: Will we move up? - Radical - 02-07-2012 03:34 PM I'm not buying the "soft" and "tippy-toe" talk for Turner. Sure, he slowed down towards the second half of the season, but he was playing through a groin injury at the time. People start throwing that line out when our line is smashed at the start of the play and he's getting hit behind or just at the LOS. You can't really put your foot on the gas when you're running between the tackles and all the sudden you got the defense in your face two steps after you got the ball in your hand. Naturally, you're going to slow down to either change direction or just try to get back to the LOS and live to fight another down. Again, he wasn't doing great for most of the later part of the season, but this tippy-toe/soft talk has been going on since 09, and it's quite frankly ridiculous when he's consistently towards the top or at the top of the league in broken tackles and yards after first contact. |
