What's on the menu, people? (besides the Saints) - Superfan - 09-24-2010 09:24 PM

Sunday at my place will see Gritblitzer and his better half arrive with a big pot of his special gumbo. Gritz was actually born and raised down around them parts (Mississippi), and claims to know how to make real gumbo. Seeing as how I've never had real gumbo before, I can't wait!

karst41 is coming with his better half as well, bringing with a big cast iron pot of his homemade jambalaya. He brought some last season for a game and it was FANTABULOUSLY delicious!

I'm making craw fish pie. I made some last season for a game get-together and my lady said; "You gotta make some MORE of that!" lol BTW, a pound of craw fish tail meat @ Walmart is $6.24. The same damn thing @ Publix is $12.99!!!

Sounds like kibitzer is gonna join us all the way from Marietta as well as a couple of surprise guest from the boards! I'm already starving just typing this, so I'll close on this little ditty:

Good-bye Joe, me gotta go, me oh my oh
Me gotta go pole the pirogue down the bayou
My Yvonne, the sweetest one, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou

(Chorus)
Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and file' gumbo
'Cause tonight I’m gonna see my ma cher amio
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-o
Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou

Thibodeaux, Fontainenot, the place is buzzin’
Kinfolk come to see Yvonne by the dozen
Dress in style and go hog wild, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou

(Chorus)
Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and file' gumbo
'Cause tonight I’m gonna see my ma cher amio
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-o
Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou

Settle down, far from town, get me a pirogue
And I’ll catch all the fish in the bayou
Swap my mon to buy Yvonne what she need-o
Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou

(Chorus)
Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and file' gumbo
'Cause tonight I’m gonna see my ma cher amio
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-o
Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou

Cool

My gumbo is the best thing you will ever taste in your life.

We're going to have a really good time.

I'll be the judge of that!Big Grin

Can't wait. I get pumped for all the games, but the last time I was THIS pumped was the 08 playoff game vs. Kurt Warner. We all know how that turned out but I'm expecting different results Sunday. However, should we lose, nobody is gonna go home hungry!Wink

Who said that? I know. Props to the first poster with the right answer.Smile

lol, yep. And this is not really off topic since we're talkin' 'bout food, but when Napoleon invaded Russia and had to retreat to France in utter defeat because of the Russian winter, his frozen and starving soldiers were walking up behind likewise mules and horses and cutting chunks of meat off their rear ends and the animals were so cold they never even felt it,...just kept plodding along.

Frozen raw mule meat!

Gimme gumbo, jambalaya and craw fish pie any day!

Oooo wee, sho nuff sound nighty good time.

Just a word of caution.
My Sister grew Ghost Peppers this year and Jr brought home a bag of
them today.

How many y'all wants in the Jambalaya? 1 or None.

Just Kidding, 1 of those damm things would make Hell seem like an ice cube.
These things are sitting in a zip lok bagie, and are so evil that I refuse to
even touch the bag............

I like HOT, and I consider myself a conciser of HOT. But I've learned my lesson more than once. Too much HOT and then I'm the ONLY one that will eat it, and then I get sick and hurl.

None. I'll have good hot sauce on hand,.....season to taste!

Who does that?
