Has it been reported if the Falcons even interviewed anybody else?

Not sure yet. I haven't seen anything from our FO or coaching staff regarding the Koetter hire or how they handled the interview process.

Koetter just lost his job because his offense sucked. Maybe it wasn't his fault, but Jacksonville thought Mike Mularkey and Bob Bratkowski were an upgrade to run the offense.

Since most Falcons fans thought Mularkey was junk, the notion that we would replace him with the guy he just demoted is an obscene thought.

Really to me it was unthinkable, there is no way I thought this would happen.
Of course mularkey wants bratkowski in that position...mularkey and koetter obviously runs two different offensive plays.

So mularkey being an offensive minded coach who seems to be arrogant slightly wants to use his offense or somebody that will run a similar offense to his.

Or maybe koetter told them no bc he wanted to be able to get out of a bad situation in jacksonville.

Come on peyton this is horrible reasoning and I know u can come up with a better reason than that.

WOWOWOW!!! Now it just seems like you are pulling things out your ass to make your argument stronger

You think he madeGabbert worst?!?!?!?! I'm sorry but that's laughable even after watching the Falcons play the Jags this year and you still think this.

For me,

It's not that I don't support Dirk, its just if you were watching the conference with TD/AB/MS you saw, at least Blank, didn't want the crap anymore. If Blank had any hand on the hiring I'll trust his decision. Now until we start seeing some pre-season/regular season games I really can't evaluate.

Over the past few days since this story has broke I've been looking through the boards and internet trying to find any positive light on our new OC. The one piece is the interview he did for XandO's story. Reading that alone gave me hope that he's actually going to develop this Offense and Matt Ryan to reach a point for Success and not pull a MM and have Julio at Running back and calling a QB Sneak (I think we all can agree that was a WTF moment).

All the other stats Dirk had in college and with Jax really doesn't phase me at this point. I want to see his ability to adapt and work with the weapons here. I'd also like to see is his ability to take the lead, and keep putting the foot on the peddle. Similar to the Sean Paytons/bill belichick's. "We're gonna keep scoring if you're not gonna stop" type of mentality.

Dirk will have the pieces in place for a playoff contention but does he utilize all those pieces (Quizz/Snelling, screens). If he can get us over the playoff hump great. The regular season wins matter to a degree but I, as a fan, want to see post-season victories.

I feel like I am in the twilight zone. The Falcons hired the guy that ran one of the worst offenses in NFL history this year, and the people who are upset about it have to explain themselves.

That offense was assembled by Gene Smith and your boy Del Rio, not Dirk Koetter. You can't blame the jockey when he is given a lame horse to ride.

jags downfall was their lack of personell attention to the offense

I'm over it. He's here, let's move on.

Honestly speaking and Im not trying to be rude but nobody has to explain anything to me or anybody.

The worst offense with the worst players and for one year. Totally discounting ANY progress shown prior years or in prior situations.

Soooo many people have pointed to the Sean Peyton's, Bill Belicheck's, etc. who have come from bad situations and bad STATS (one of those 3 lies) and have overcome. The 6th ranked O-line is usually a coveted position but do you really think our o-line is the 6th best in the league?

Last and probably most important I didnt really want Koetter. I was a fan of Clementa because I figured he would bring what he learned from the Packers to us. The thing I hate the most is the "I'm right and you're wrong" attitude when honestly speaking NOBODY knows what the fuck is about to happen.

All a lot of us are asking is to quit bitching and whining and wait and see. Even you yourself considered it bitching

RE: I don't understand all the Dirk negativity-LONG READ - ATLBound - 01-16-2012 03:55 PM

Btw I can't comfortably KNOW and CONFIRM that I'm bitching and continue bitching. Nothing against you Peyton just going off of what you said
