Sorry, but that makes more sense than hiring a guy who's been given opportunity after opportunity and had mixed to bad results every time. None of his successes at Boise, ASU, or Jackosnville say that this is the guy that can beat the Saints or the Packers. So I guess you wouldn't be happy unless we signed Sean Payton or Mike McCarthy as our OC. You expected us to magically grab some known offensive guru that is easily projected to do better than our already great offense has been. Shit like that doesn't happen. Great offensive or defensive coaches move on to head coaching jobs and are still able to work their magic and influence their area of expertise. It is very rare to find an elite football coach that is willing to stay in a coordinator role for long. Did you seriously just say that it is the job of an OC to beat another offense? This is just crazy talk. Especially considering that both those teams are out of the playoffs, JUST LIKE WE ARE! RE: I don't understand all the Dirk negativity-LONG READ - Peyton - 01-16-2012 03:44 AM I would have felt better if the Falcons would have taken a look at some of the young energetic assistants on some of the successful staffs. If they would have waited two more days, they could have interviewed a slew of them from the GB staff....maybe. Obviously GB would have had to agree to it. I even wanted Clements and made the first thread about it months ago. They requested to interview Clements. The fact that Koetter has been hired clearly shows they didn't get that permission. If they did, they would have waited it out. But since they didn't, they went ahead with Koetter. GB is smart in not letting anybody leave. They are winning so nobody would get mad at them denying interviews, so let anybody go and risk ruining chemistry? Especially with your QB RE: I don't understand all the Dirk negativity-LONG READ - Paulitik - 01-16-2012 03:49 AM (01-16-2012 03:44 AM)Peyton Wrote: I would have felt better if the Falcons would have taken a look at some of the young energetic assistants on some of the successful staffs. That's all I'm saying, and if they at least waited until after the Conference championship weekend where teams will get 2 weeks off, and then hired Koetter, I would at least be a little more convinced he was the right guy for the job and they actually explored all possibilities. Obviously, the staff was scared they couldn't interview anyone before the Senior Bowl because they assumed the better offensive teams would be still playing. They felt confident with a Defensive minded head coach that he could evaluate the talent, but were scared not to have the OC in place. Another Falcons decision based off of fear. I honestly think they assumed Green Bay would win and didn't want to wait. I see no evidence of the Falcons doing their due diligence on the most important hire. Especially with your QB The guy I really wanted the Falcons to look at is Edgar Bennett. I've never been on the Clements bandwagon, although he might make a good OC for somebody as well. Honestly, I was disappointed when there was only 3 names on the candidate list, and they went with DLed's #1 guy. That might be the most damning thing I have heard about Koetter the past two days. RE: I don't understand all the Dirk negativity-LONG READ - Peyton - 01-16-2012 03:57 AM I've been out most of the day at an Everclear concert so I haven't read up. Has it been reported if the Falcons even interviewed anybody else? Could have at least waited 24 hours to see how the playoff games went, just don't get it. |
