Ok, so the leading comments in favor of Koetter as the OC is that the talent here is better than at Jacksonville and that he had a powerful passing offense at ASU. Not really awe inspiring. Doesn't mean he won't succeed but it's certainly not compelling evidence that he will, but I was honestly expecting to go into next season with something besides blind optimism and hope but that's exactly the situation.
The college argument is tired anyway. It's a completely different game playing different kind of schemes with different matchups and a different spread of talent. Paul Johnson has had the 5th, 2nd, 1st and 3rd best rushing totals in the last 4 years at Ga Tech and it means just as much as ASU's passing numbers with respect to the NFL game. Petrino also had a great offense at Louiseville.

Yep, he's hanging his Atlanta career on this decision. This was his one get out of jail free card. You don't usually get the second chance to have a coordinator re-do.
