Dirk Koetter - FullMetalFalcon23 - 01-11-2012 06:29 AM How would this sit with you all? The only thing of his that I would instantly be happy about is the run game he had going in Jacksonville. Their talent in the passing game is not like ours never has been, but at the sametime I know nothing about what his passing book was like? Does anyone know? Have any indepth thoughts? The reason I ask is because it's a name that is starting to be batted around. I'll be honest it doesn't seem to be a fit with the investment we made in Julio. This would make more sense to me if we wanted to remain as a run first team. But the direction seems to be a pass balanced offense. My gut instinct is not him because I feel we need someone who can provide a fresh run game and a fresh ground game that would make use of all of our weapons in a multi faceted manner. RE: Dirk Koetter - juraitwaluzka - 01-11-2012 08:59 AM Hate it. Might as well just have Mularkey. I'll let those with experience speak about it, from the Jags board: I thought Mike Smith was a good coach....Is he that dumb to want to try out Koetter???? Try getting someone that can help you outscore your chief rival in the NFC South the Saints. Koetter is not the right coach to help them do that. I'm just glad we don't have to watch this brand of football (If Schottenheimer, Mularky, isn't hired.). It's worse than 3yds . and a cloud of dust because he does the same thing over and over again. No innovation, no trick plays, no creativity on offense..It's just bland. MJD up the middle, MJD offtackle, MJD screen/ or slant pass....PUNT. RE: Dirk Koetter - juraitwaluzka - 01-11-2012 09:02 AM If we continue with our same "brand" of football we are going to get the same kind of results. RE: Dirk Koetter - mdrake34 - 01-11-2012 09:02 AM Ugh, hell no. I watched a couple of Jags games this year, I didn't see a single pass play of over 5 yards, it was awful. Gabbert could sling it in college, but this guy wouldn't even let him attempt more than a slant or dump off. This exactly why I don't like it. It may just be speculation based on coaching trees. He doesn't strike me as able to keep our offense as explosive and consistent/inconsistent as it is lent alone improve it with a new more dynamic product. If this happens I will seriously question Atlanta's FOs commitment to this team with a forward looking vision. I don't think Blank could be swayed to approve this. " hey Arthur, that jacksonville team that has just cleared house yeah we should hire the guy they just got rid of. " We are a playoff team that has gotten stuck at a hump, we need to get past that. The players deserve better than this. RE: Dirk Koetter - Knight of God - 01-11-2012 10:39 AM I was scared that I'd ever see that name on a Falcons board, its like reliving the Ray Edwards nightmare. That dude is worse than Mularkey. RE: Dirk Koetter - Jayhawk-Falcon2012 - 01-11-2012 10:39 AM From what i saw from the game we had against the Jags....no thank you. RE: Dirk Koetter - Peyton - 01-11-2012 11:49 AM Last in offensive yards. Last in offensive yards per play. Last in passing. Last in passing yards per play. Last in first downs. Last in 20 yard pass plays. Last in QB rating. He obviously built a consistent offense in Jacksonville. At least we can give him that. " I'm just speculating but I doubt it even gets to the Blank level, I get the sense that TD won't have any of this either. It would take stupidity spanning several levels for this to happen, I would be surprised, saddened, dismayed and demoralized if this was the outcome.
