Either way, there is no way the Falcons could be 27th in sacks when only 18 teams had more sacks.

Not under any scenario, no matter how retarded.

And the one you are cooking up is pretty retarded.

see the above post

I can't believe I actually have to actually type this, but rankings are never calculated from the bottom up.

Even if we used your logic that ties count only as one position, that would make the Falcons 10th out of 15 different positions, not 27th out of 32.

Of course ties count as one position. Philly and Minnesota tied for the league lead in sacks just like Atlanta tied for the fifth lowest number of sacks. I don't care how you want to count up or down or even in a diagonal manner the FACT remains that the Falcons tied for the fifth lowest total of all teams in sacks.

This all reminds me of the stat I saw earlier this year talking about Boscher being 33rd out of 32 punters.

By the way, I would just like to point out that these are completely different sack total numbers than the ones Keith provided earlier from CBS.

OH OH now you want to change your story.

Before you said they were 27th.

Now...is it true that they are 27th in the league in sacks or not?

I appreciate the support but your link is for sacks given up not sacks recorded by the defense. Click on "own" instead of "opponent" and it will break down to match my link here:

Actually, I just looked at it again and the Falcons are tied for 10th out of 15 spots in the sack count.

1. Philly + Minn = 50 sacks
2. Baltimore + NYG = 48 sacks
3. Cinci = 45 sacks
4. Houston = 44 sacks
5. SF + Arizona + Dallas = 42 sacks
6. Wash + Denver + Detroit + Miami = 41 sacks
7. NE = 40 sacks
8. St. Louis + Oakland = 39 sacks
9. Pitt + Jets = 35 sacks
10. Seattle + Atlanta + Chicago + NO = 33 sacks
11. Cleveland + SD = 32 sacks
12. Jacksonville + Carolina = 31 sacks
13. KC + Indi + Buff + GB = 29 sacks
14. Tenn = 28 sacks
15. TB = 23 sacks

We are tied for 10th out of 15. We are 9 sacks from the worst and 17 sacks from the best. We're much closer to the bottom than the top either way you slice it.

Yes, because his link shows sacks given UP not sacks RECORDED by a defense.
