Of course there is. You simply have teams tied for the same number. How else would you put it? Alphabetically higher doesn't make it numerically higher. Philly and Minn both had 50 sacks to tie for the number one spot. Does Minn get to count higher because it is alphabetically higher than Philly for first place and Philly get second?

BVG wasn't a bad defensive coordinator but he wasn't one of the top defensive coordinators either. I think he realized that he had reached his ceiling running the Falcons defense and took what is a great opportunity at Auburn, and return to his days of coaching in the SEC. He also probably realized his job was in limbo, so he pounced on this offer without having to wait on the possibility of getting fired.
He'll definitely be more successful in college where the talent pool isn't as deep and he can get away with some of his vanilla blitzes and calls. I wish him the best.

Actually, using your method, Philly and Minnesota would be tied for 18th in sacks.

The Falcons are tied. They are tied for 19th in sacks. Not 27th.
