Mularkey is getting called out now - atljbo - 01-08-2012 11:55 PM

Quote:However, not all of the blame falls on the quarterback. Rather than challenge defenses with aggressive play-calling, Atlanta has played scared.

“We talked about trying to establish the running game because we didn’t think we could pass protect,” said Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, who was limited to five catches for 52 yards with a long of only 21 yards. “We played right into their hands. I mean, if they sack us every down and we can’t move the ball, OK. But let’s try.”

White’s remarks echo private comments of several other players who have pointed at a disconnection who offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey’s approach. Numerous players believe Mularkey is too conservative, particularly in tense situations like the playoffs.

Or as one player put it: “Something has to be said to [coach] Mike [Smith] this offseason.”

For now, the important issue is whether the Giants will have something to say in Green Bay.

It looks like their will definitely be a change

I hope so. when both JPP & Ross went out that play we should have took a shot right then & sent a message but we run a come back to Roddy that was perfectly executed ... and perfectly defended. I knew we were in for a long day right then

One week it's the offense the other the defense, we did get torched for like 176 rushing yards.

Both cords have to go that is bloody obvious.

I agree.. I dont want my D to be able to just good in 1 half... I need my D to play like that the whole game... Watch Houston's D

You understand what I mean now about having a space eating anchor in the middle?

Man....what I would give for one of those. It would be amazing to see what we would look like if we had an unmovable monstrous force in the middle.

*sigh*

Same but to be fair, they never had a chance to rest. I'm proud of what they did considering we had 3 starters out.

Houston doesnt have a big space eater tho.... I would like that guy but i dont just want a big dude taking up space... He has to be able to penetrate

Thats our biggest problem.. penetration up the middle

Yeah...with average to smallish guys. If a smaller guy cannot get penetration he is useless. If a big guy can't then he still takes up space.

Houston runs a 3-4 and uses a scheme similar to the 5-2 you don't need a space eater.
