Our 2012 free agents - Chuck Norris - 01-08-2012 09:40 PM Must Resign John Abraham - Easily our best pass rusher. I'd like to see him sign for 2 more years for around 18 million. Brent Grimes - I'm extremely disapointed he didn't play today. It makes no sense. That being said, he's the best CB in the NFC. Lock him up. 5 years 50 million? He's way better than Dunta. Curtis Lofton - Really good MLB. Not the greatest vs. the pass, but a beast against the run. Him and Spoon should not be separated. Possibly Resign Jason Snelling - Pretty average. I'd like to see Turner gone and Snelling the backup. Harry Douglas - Underused here in Atlanta. I'm willing to sacrifice him if it means keeping one of our big three up top. Thomas DeCoud - DeCoud seems to make at least two poor plays for every good play he makes. I don't know if we're willing to pay much, but there are worse options out there at safety. Michael Palmer - Should be cheap, has done well blocking. Vance Walker - Should be cheap again. Solid rotational guy up front. Eric Weems - Great ST guy. Would like to see him catch more punts however. Joe Zelenka - Why not? Do Not Resign Chris Redman - We have to find a better backup QB. I guess Redman could stay in a backup role, but I wouldn't support it. Antone Smith - Mediocre ST player. Never got time on O. Again, could be resigned. Todd McClure - I think it's time to move on. We can't run up front at all. It's bad. Ideally, we sign Carl Nicks and either Hawley or a draft pick will start at center. Could sign for a 1yr deal if Hawley doesn't work out. Mike Peterson - Thanks for the leadership here but it's time to move on. James, Dent and Adkins need to mature. RE: Our 2012 free agents - insanefalconfan - 01-08-2012 09:42 PM I agree with your ratings on who to keep. But I think Grimes or Lofton will get the Tag other one needs to have a long term deal already in the works RE: Our 2012 free agents - Chuck Norris - 01-08-2012 09:44 PM (01-08-2012 09:42 PM)insanefalconfan Wrote: I agree with your ratings on who to keep. But I think Grimes or Lofton will get the Tag other one needs to have a long term deal already in the works Forgot to mention that. I'm not 100% on the salary situation but all three are critical to the D. Abe/Grimes/Lofton are three of the four best players on D imo. RE: Our 2012 free agents - The Don™ - 01-08-2012 09:49 PM I think that 18 million might be too much cheddar for Abe. But yeah, he's a must resign. Probably right. I mean TG got 7.5, so I'm just spitballing here. I think around 15 may be correct. PS Maybe I'm ready to get rid of DeCoud. Really up and down player. Too bad Moore can't stay healthy to play along side him. RE: Our 2012 free agents - Beef - 01-09-2012 12:11 AM This is just my opinion on what we should do.... Trade: Turner for 2nd & 4th round picks. Biermann for 4th round pick. Reynolds for 7th round pick. (we know he sucks, but someone will take him because he's a mammoth of a man) Owens for 7th round pick. (if we got a 7th for Crisp Houston, we can get one here) Release/don't re-sign: JPW (simply not viable if Ryan and Redman go down) Antone Smith (nothing special about this guy at all) Palmer (proven he is worthless, we signed Reggie Kelly for fuck sakes) McClure (done) Re-sign: Abraham (must do) Lofton (must do) Grimes (must do) Douglas (yes, new OC will utilize) Snelling (he will be cheap and really good depth) Hayden (played well at nickel and cheap) Walker (good cheap depth) Weems (never fumbles, always gets better field position) DeCoud (but demote to 2nd string) Zelenka (reliable as hell longsnapper) Peterson (team leader and still has fuel in the tank) Redman (because we're dumping JPW and drafting a rookie) FA Signings: CB - Carlos Rogers (replacing Robinson who is moved to FS to replace DeCoud) RB - Ray Rice or Ryan Grant or Mike Tolbert (replacing Turner) OT - Demetrius Bell (move Baker to backup RG/RT, Bell is better than Svitek as well) Draft: 2nd - OL (from Turner trade) 2nd - CB 3rd - DE 4th - OL (from Turner trade) 4th - TE (from Biermann trade) 5th - QB 6th - OL 7th - DE (from Owens trade) 7th - S (from Reynolds trade) 7th - CB RE: Our 2012 free agents - Chuck Norris - 01-09-2012 12:51 AM (01-09-2012 12:11 AM)Beef Wrote: This is just my opinion on what we should do.... I like it, but I don't think Turner would net nearly that much in a trade. You couldn't get a second round pick for Turner and Biermann combined. You maybe could get a 3rd for Turner (and that's a HUGE maybe.) Biermann has no trade value. Why are there so many people who believe that other GMs in the league don't watch football?
