Then he went with Ross to GT and helped turn an awful GT team into a national championship squad, and nobody could stop the GT offense that year. He put 45 points on Nebraska when teams didn't do that to Nebraska, and he did it with a squad full of guys that couldn't have gotten a scholarship to Nebraska.

Then Friedgen went to SD as OC with Ross, and helped the Chargers make the Super Bowl with Stan Humphries as QB.

Then he came back to Tech to be the OC for George O'Leary, and made a guy who nobody wanted to let play QB, Joe Hamilton, into a Heisman trophy candidate.

Then he turned George Godsey, a guy whose arm makes Matt Ryan's look like a cannon, into a complete stud.

Then he went to Maryland as head coach, won the ACC in his first season and went to the Orange Bowl.

Then he got fired after winning coach of the last year when his team went 9-4.

They went 2-10 this year. Probably a little bit of regret on Maryland's part there.

That's about it.

Even better recap than mine. Either way, he would be a perfect hire.

Didn't Fridge used to get mentioned, alongside Ferentz form Iowa, in nearly every discussion for high profile head coaching vacancies in college, as well as several NFL positions during the past decade?

Thanks Peyton and Ismalls. +1

Well, his resume certainly looks impressive. I trust your guys' observations and opinions about him.

Friedgen was offered the head coaching job at Tampa 8 or 9 years ago. He turned it down to stay at Maryland.

Yeah, I was on board with Fridge three years ago if we could have lured him away from Maryland. It should be easy to get him now if we go after him..... if..... if.... if.

And Smitty HAS to fire MM if he isn't hired away this week. If he doesn't then Smitty becomes culpable for MM's inabilities as our OC these past 4 seasons and has no further grace period going forward.... it would be like tying a damn 50 lb. rock around ur neck, jumping in the river, and trying to swim across. You are going to fail and know you did it to yourself.

I don't think there are any ifs, ands, or buts.

The Falcons have to let go Mike Mularkey.

It's not just a football decision. It's a business decision. They want to sell tickets, they have to show the fans that they care about that sad performance we all watched today.
