This is why our teams gets zero "respect" from national media - keithbrooking56 - 01-08-2012 06:22 PM I'm glad this site isn't as bad about it as TATF but for everyone who gets angry over how little "respect" our team gets then you have no further to look than this debacle to see why. This team has to win in the playoffs to get respect. Period. You don't get respect by winning 10-13 games in the regular season and losing in the first game in the playoffs. That is beyond unacceptable for where this team should be simply on the basis of its talent level. When we win in the playoffs the respect will come. This team has already burned out the "hot young team coming from nowhere" card after the Vick/Pestinko crisis. It has already burned the "had best conference record to clinch homefield advantage throughout the playoffs" card because our of our loss last year at home against Green Bay in our first (and only) playoff game. Now we have even burned the "smart pick to pull off an upset" card because almost EVERY national figure had us upsetting the Giants today. So what cards are left? Only one: "the team that choked in the playoffs for years finally showed up and won it all". And that is the ONLY card left in the deck that will get this franchise and its fanbase the "respect" so many crave. RE: This is why our teams gets zero "respect" from national media - MilleniumFalcon - 01-08-2012 06:24 PM Exactly, we don't deserve respect. No one respected the Saints before their 09 run but one playoff run changed everyone's perception. This up-and-down crap by both the offense and defense for the past 4 years has got to change for the better. This team still has no identity. Well, people were down on them when they lost to the Cardinals but then they went on a run and beat us on Monday Night and got respected again. People thought they were gonna destroy Seattle but lost. This is beyond consistency. This is having coaching that knows how to use the talent. If we can't no-huddle, we have to have a competent play caller besides our QB. RE: This is why our teams gets zero "respect" from national media - atljbo - 01-08-2012 06:34 PM To be honest.. I dont give a shit what the media says right about now... We need to build an consistent team RE: This is why our teams gets zero "respect" from national media - Statick - 01-08-2012 06:39 PM (01-08-2012 06:34 PM)atljbo Wrote: To be honest.. RE: This is why our teams gets zero "respect" from national media - MilleniumFalcon - 01-08-2012 06:41 PM In 2008 - Loss to Cardinals, it's ok, this kid Ryan has a bright future and Falcons will be back here again. In 2010 - Beatdown to Packers, couldn't stop Aaron Rodgers, questions start popping up on BVG. In 2011 - Beatdown to Giants, offense couldn't score a point, questions start popping up on MM. Consistency? Consistently bad in the spotlight. Under this regime, this team has proven over & over again that they come up short when it comes to big games. I'm happy about the 4 winning seasons in a row, back to back playoff appearances, but that's not enough. TD needs to make a trade and get us another second round pick and get a big ass OG and another OT. We have enough skill players. We need to build the lines. We need to scrap Jerry and get another DT in here, too. Kroy Biermann needs to take HGH or something. The guy still plays like a 'tweener. |
