Mike Mularkey is "the leading candidate" for the Jaguars' head-coaching job. - Anomaly - 01-05-2012 10:47 AM

Quote:A source tells the Chicago Tribune that Falcons OC Mike Mularkey is "the leading candidate" for the Jaguars' head-coaching job.
The same source says Colts OC Clyde Christensen, once let go in Indy, will follow Mularkey if he lands the top job in Jacksonville. Keep in mind this report was somewhat buried in a Chicago paper discussing the Bears' offensive coordinator vacancy, but the reporter (Brad Biggs) is one of the best in the business. The Jaguars were granted permission to interview Mularkey on January 2. They can do so after Sunday's Falcons-Giants game. Jan 5 - 9:38 AM

Great.
Another short trip in and out of the playoffs.
If he gets the job forget about planning for the Falcons games.

between Mike Mularkey and BVG, I rather keep MM and let BVG go. I just cant see Smith and TD letting two coordinators go in one offseason.

I'd rather keep MM with his flaws than keep BVG. I also saw a report on rotoworld that Jay Gruden (John's little brother, the Bengals OC) is the leading candidate for the Jags HC job.

If MM leaves I could see him take Harry Douglas with him.

What would make you think this is possible? Harry is a weapon that is underused in our offense but I can't see him wanting out of Atlanta. He was off last season has put up close to 500 yards as our 4th option he is in a team that is in perennial playoff hunt mode right now.

Even if he wants to leave Jacksonville would have to offer him a lot of money and make him number one or 2 in their offense. Because he is leaving something stable and the xhance at a Superbowl sooner than later to go and rebuild a teams receivers group with an unsteady Oline and a ? At QB

This being said, TD isn't stupid if he knows Harry wants out he'd put a tender on him and then trade him.

But I just don't see Atlanta parting so easily with a restricted FA who is a quietly important part of their offense.

i really don't think so. last year, he declined to interview with the browns so he could prepare for the playoff game. as much as i dislike MM, i really doubt he'd prepare poorly just to get done and start his new job. what would keep the new team from say, hey, we saw that, we changed our mind

he don't use him enough here, why would HD even want to go with him and not be used somewhere else? LOL
