Houston (with a damn rookie third string qb)??? Philly????? hell we couldn't even beat the damn losing ass suckaneers....... RE: I just hope for one thing - Radical - 12-29-2011 08:02 PM Defensively? I say we did more than enough against the Bucs and Houston. Like I said, since week 5 our defense has been our strongest unit, and even then they did well against the Bucs in week 3. Defense was and still is the problem with this team. JJ is going to be a superstar in the the NFL and I'm glad he's a Falcon. The issue now is to see how well TD can make up for the talent we need elsewhere. RE: I just hope for one thing - Templar - 12-30-2011 01:09 AM I hate to say it, but the NFL has changed. You can't try to counter the successful teams like New England, Green Bay, and New Orleans by building a run first, aggressive defense anymore. Within 10 years we're going to be watching a rehash of Arena League. The NFL as a business wants high scoring and no defense, so the rules keep changing to accommodate. Sure they want to see big hits, because it draws in viewers and revenue, but they fine anyone for such hits. So here is what we're left with. Every team ends up with some form of high powered offense and a D that is designed to stop other teams as best they can within the increasingly strangling rules. RE: I just hope for one thing - Jesus - 12-30-2011 02:49 AM Though there is no excuse for that defensive showing. There was a real problem with our offensive scheme. On our first 2 drives we moved the ball with a quick but time consuming BALANCED offense. Once we got away from the run and started a throwing contest we started to sputter and NO took advantage. This team needs to run and control the tempo to win. We were never going to beat NO or GB going toe to toe with them. Few teams do. When you make mistakes and miss the first downs and TDs it is hard to recover. There are few teams that can stop those two. We don't have to try. We just have to control the tempo. That is how we beat them both before. |
