Defensive Coordinator Options - FullMetalFalcon23 - 12-28-2011 10:08 AM SpagnuloI I want him here if he goes. The guy hadn't panned out well as HC. But defense is his thing. I would welcome him here in Atlanta. They say NYG and Philly are likely to be interested, but personally I would live to see him alongside Mike Smith. We need an NFL coordinator. Not a project guy. Fuck if someone takes the HC job from Mel Tucker over in Jacksonville and brings in their own staff, I would hope we consider looking at him. Before we played them that Defense was doing well only losing by small margins in low scoring games. If he could do that with the players he had, including some walk ons due to injury, he could do better things with the Falcons D, which is better talent wise, but is suffering from a from a scheme that is shit like open bowels. The problem we have, is unless we exit early from the playoffs, I am not so sure we can land Spags unless we are already showing interest behind the scenes. The Jacksonville guy could be ours as the timing of his release if a new HC comes in would be different. BVG has to go at this point. I don't hate the man or want his head on a stake, but I gave my GM hat on. You draft talent and in 4 years that D hadn't turned the corner, you either bust a move and make a change, or you get ready for criticism to come down on your head and for your desk to be the one that gets cleared. TD is smart. He has put together a good NFL offense for the most part. With young or fresh talent that is Elite for their age or in comparison to the entire NFL, and trending upwards towards being an Elite Unit. But the Defense still looks like day 1 of the process. Despite again having talent that is among the top in the NFL at respective positions. Post other realistic choices for DCs in Atlanta here, I want to know who others are thinking about. On another note. Munchak, may be one and done in Tennessee, word is he is Penn States number one target. So those wanting MM gone could see that as another potential landing spot. RE: Defensive Coordinator Options - phocis850 - 12-28-2011 10:24 AM I don't know what we do, but I do know this... We've peaked as a team under these coaches. RE: Defensive Coordinator Options - FullMetalFalcon23 - 12-28-2011 10:35 AM Short Curve that was. RE: Defensive Coordinator Options - NOVAFalconFan - 12-28-2011 10:40 AM I don't care who the DC is as long as we get off the field on 3rd down. I'm with you FMJ, spags would be a good addition RE: Defensive Coordinator Options - The Don™ - 12-28-2011 01:14 PM We interviewed Spags for the HC spot after Petrino left. The prior interest is there. I like Mel Tucker too. I like Mel Tucker too. Mel Tucker would be my ideal young DC. The guy is the architect behind the 9th rank pass D and the 6th rank Rush D. That is saying something as much of a circus a Jacksonville has been as of late. He is getting the best out of his players, who for the most part are not anywhere near as talented across the board as Atlanta. Yet they are producing. There does come a point when you say is the scheme being run and the plays being called even putting your team in a position to win the game. RE: Defensive Coordinator Options - evo - 12-28-2011 02:02 PM i wouldnt mind that intern coach from the jacksonville. He ran a very good D in the last few years in both Jacksonville and Cleveland. Correct me if im wrong on this but i think he runs a 4-3, which is what we got here in Atlanta. Another great thing is that, you know how Smith got his connection in Jacksonville. Im all in for Tucker! RE: Defensive Coordinator Options - atljbo - 12-28-2011 02:35 PM Yea.. I really like Mel Tucker as a young DC RE: Defensive Coordinator Options - Polar Bear Jones - 12-28-2011 02:40 PM I am also thinking Sugar Bear has to go. As much as I like how Peters is progressing PJ and JA98 pretty much have sealed his fate. I like Spags but I am not sure how much the jags defense is a product of Tucker or Del Rio. |
