As we have all seen this season, the Falcons have been atrocious in the 3rd quarter so far this season. As has been pointed out, they've been outscored 61-13 in the third. But what about yardage? I started wondering how bad it was for us in the 3rd quarter versus the other 3. I complied my findings into a spreadsheet you can find here.
Some highlights from the stats:
- The Falcons have outscored their opponents 24-13 in the first quarter and 33-17 in the 4th. We've been outscored 34-39 in the 2nd.
- In the 1st and 4th quarters, the Falcons are out gaining their opponents
- In the the 2nd and 3rd quarter this season, the Falcons have given up 1134 yards, 871 of those through the air.
One thing I see in this is that the third quarter, while one of our problem quarters, isn't the only problem. We seem to be strong in the 1st and the 4th but have trouble in the middle of games.
